I'm glad they are trying to save them. That man must be a terrible person to treat the animals that way.

The owner of the cubs wants $1000 each for them. I don't see why they just don't take the cubs and burn down the owner's restaurant. It seems like he's looking for a reward for commiting a crime against an endangered species. He should recieve a punishment. Burn down his business. It will be like a very dramatic and expensive fine.

The soldiers of the U.S. counterterrorism task force for the Horn of Africa were in the region carrying out humanitarian work
Why would the counterterrorism task force be carrying out humanitarian work?dont they have terrorists to kill?

is counterterrorism one word?

Call me a jerk, but I like animals more then most people. This scum should be punished harshly, say tie him to a tree with bologna tied around his neck in the middle of the Sarengeti.

I never though I'd read a story on Fox News or about US troops that I would actually like. I think saving cute (if dangerous) animals is a very effective way to win 'hearts and minds' - good on them.

They should bring the cats back when they are healthy adults, see if they still want to poke them with sticks...see how it goes over...

(not really, but that is angering...)

So, they're doing this whilst Sudanese villages burn and Ugandan children are enslaved?

Interesting.

Well, they're not (as) endangered. Plus it's easier to save a few cats than stop a civil war.

To be fair, while there is legitimate issue it's not as if there was a big board up that said "Villages Burning" "Children Enslaved" "Cute Cheetah Kittens in Trouble" with a guy going "Okay men, you can only do one." "OOooooooh Cute kittens, cute kittens!!!!" They where doing something else entirely and this happened. And it's not neccisarilly in lue of other things.

According to the UN there's no genocide going on in Sudan, so there's no reason to send in US troops.

No, France, Russia and China would be angry if we intervened in Sudan. Apparently there are important money making opportunities in allowing the extermination of Black Africans in Darfur.

And so very much more cost-effective for PR....

PETA would be so proud! (If not angry that they didn't think of it first.)

How about we kill all humans? That would solve about, say...100% of the world's problems.

No it wouldnt. The rat population would suffer greatly without our waste to feast upon.similarly all domesticated animals would surely die.

No, PETA would demand that the restaurant owner be killed for serving meat and would try to feed the cheetah cubs a vegetarian diet.
