What ever happened to Operation: Iraqi Shield?

Seriously, I remember, way back when, before we started to invade Iraq, that some guy started 'Operation: Iraqi Shield.' I think he was Canadian, or something.

Anyways, the thing was he and a bunch of other civvies (I think he managed to get a lot of support too) would go to Iraq and stand around in the cities, so that the U.S. wouldn't bomb Iraq without killing the innocent American and Canadian civilians. They were on the news like once, and then the next day it seemed like they just... Dissappeared.

One thing rolls into another, and boom, US attacks Iraq, like Iraqi Shield had never happened.

I was only recently reminded of Iraqi Shield. Does anyone know what became of those people? Does anyone here know someone who was involved with Iraqi Shield? I'm a little bit curious...

The media probably got bored with them and they went home.

The dumbasses probably got themselves blown up. Either that or they were kidnapped and killed by terrorists, which would be the ULTIMATE irony. :D

I dont know that he was a Canadian, but what happened was the Iraqi government made the decision about where they would stand... That isnt what they wanted at all, poor demented kids. Also, they failed to realize that missiles and bombs are often shot from over the horizon, and no bomber traveling at supersonic speeds is going to notice some college waving their little flags way down o the ground.

Pragmatism beat out youthful idealism!

Ultimately, I'm guessing that the invasion would have continued anyway so as to avoid awkward questions about "Why are western innocents more innocent than innocent Iraqis.";)

I think they should be reformed to stop the terrorist from blowing up hospitals and markets. Anyone want to volunteer for a mission?

The insurgents cut off their heads and stuck them on sticks that they placed around the cities. But it didnt scare anyone like it was supposed to and they couldnt find any more idiots to come down and get bombed for free so the plan failed .

That was the only part of the Anti-War Movement that I didn't agree with.
