Well I just spent an (forced) hour of learning Latin next to the toilets they are renovating at school and they were being painted, now our school has a reputation for a druggie school so the smell probably didn't affect most of the students but afterwards I felt as sick as hell. Should I sue them for the hell of it?

Firstly, out of interest, is the smell that offended you: drug residue, paint fume, sewerage, all of the above or other?

Secondly, here's what you need for a lawsuit:

Liability: School's duty-of-care is well established
Damages: IE The effect of enjoyment of learning (note: this is not enjoyment as in fun, is your right to be involved in it), physical trauma, etc.
Responsibility: Problem, the responsibility for ensuring that you're safety in specific relation to work rests with the construction firm. The teacher may owe a limited liability to close the door, move the class, etc. However, whoever holds the final responsibility out of those parties, you yourself are significantly responsible.

Now the legal stuff is out of the way. I suggest not making your school poorer then it probably already is. That is never a good idea.

Sweet! You're learning Latin! Latin is awesome... do they actually have it at your school as an elective? Because at our school, the only languages they have are German, Spanish, and French. There is a Latin club afterschool, which I am in, but it's not like a real class or anything... That's cool.

Oh yeah... I'd say sue them. If the school is stupid enough to renovate a bathroom in the middle of the school year... Yeah.

Stop whining, you've got it fine. My Residence hall alternates smalls. Poop, farts, macaroni, pizza, vomit. And then there's always the smell of a guy's residence hall - sweat and man juice.

The girl's floors just always smell like girls. Perfume and rainbows.
