No real point to this thread other than to find out what people think of the titular film starring Vin Diesel. I personally love it, I think it's fantastic, and also, Diesel actually acts in it  lol. So yeah, anyone else seen it? If so what d'you think, and if not why not? Go and buy (and then watch) it!

I thought it was pretty good, as well.

I loved it, except for the 'I never got to see Paris' line. And Vin was great. Too bad he's sucked in everything since:(

I think it's a damn good film - especially with the unexpected death of the heroine.. What's best is the way that the second one definitely isn't just a rehash.

Hehe, true, but oh well - we can forgive him provided he continues to kick arse and look cool. Much like Keanu Reeves in fact.

I haven't seen that one. Any good?

No, I can't forgive Keanu. Not even after Constantine. He's just too 'whoa'.

Yeah, try not to ruin it for the folks who haven't seen it, eh?

I loved Pitch Black but Chronicles of Riddick made me want to stab myself in the ear with an icepick. Pitch Black is to Chronicles as Aliens is to Alien 3.

I thought Pitch Black was predictable but Vin Deisel was hot in it, so I watched it at the theater twice, and then bought it on DVD.

*POSSIBLE CONTROVERSY ALERT - POSSIBLE CONTROVERSY ALERT*

Pitch Black was a meh and tCoR was fucking dire.

I liked Pitch Black, thought Chronicles of Riddick to be to be just plain absolutely goddamn fucking awful, how any scriptwriter could vomit that pap onto paper is beyond my simian brain.

:sniper: it TOTALLY doesnt say that the heroine dies. she gets taken away by a flying thing. she could be raised by them, escape, or vin cud rescue her in the next movie. i think the movie was great tho (except the part where shes taken away, which is pretty stupid and shud be taken out).

Ah, I love Pitch Black. Great movie that.

Now, Chronicles of Riddick... I don't know what to say about it. It's like the two movies aren't even related, beyond having the same characters and making passing mentions to the events of Pitch Black. It's just... the universe presented in CoR, with all the supernatural aspects and freaky powers of DOOom and such, doesn't seem at all like I would have pictured it with PB (though admittedly, you don't get much about the outter universe in PB, but I imagined it in a more reality-based way than was presented in CoR).

I liked Pitch Black AND The Chronicles of Riddick. Constantine, on the other hand, was just Bill and Ted with demons. Keanu Reeves should be taken out back and shot.

Don't be stupid. Shooting wood doesn't kill it, it just puts a hole in it. Fire is the way.

We'd have to stand behind a plexiglass screen though - I hate splinters.

I think what's more interesting than any of the films he's appeared or starred in are two of the films he'd like to participate in (i.e. star in) - he's been quoted as saying he'd be very interested in playing Norrin Radd in a production of 'The Silver Surfer', and I hear ongoing rumours he'd also be interested in playing the part of Gully Foyle in a possible adaptation of Alfred Bester's 'The Stars My Destination'.

I think he'd be perfect for both roles - but I think we'd need to see some well-written scripts to really feel good about either prospect. Big-budget flicks seem to uniformly reek of 'writing by committee', and never really satisfy for that reason.
