Locked Doors 1, Bush 0

BEIJING (Reuters) - Irked by a reporter who told him he seemed to be "off his game" at a Beijing public appearance, President George W. Bush sought to make a hasty exit from a news conference but was thwarted by locked doors.

At the end of a day of meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao and other Chinese officials, Bush held a session with a small group of U.S. reporters and spoke at length about issues like religious freedom, Iraq and the Chinese currency.

The final reporter he called on critiqued Bush's performance earlier in the day when he stood next to Hu in the Great Hall of the People on Tiananmen Square to deliver a statement.

"Respectfully, sir -- you know we're always respectful -- in your statement this morning with President Hu, you seemed a little off your game, you seemed to hurry through your statement. There was a lack of enthusiasm. Was something bothering you?" he asked.

"Have you ever heard of jet lag?" Bush responded. "Well, good. That answers your question."

The president then recited a list of things of that he viewed as positive developments from his Beijing meetings, including co-operation on North Korean nuclear disarmament and the ability to have "frank discussions" with his Chinese counterpart.

When the reporter asked for "a very quick follow-up", Bush cut him off by thanking the press corps and telling the reporter "No you may not," as he strode towards a set of double doors leading out of the room.

The only problem was that they were locked.

"I was trying to escape. Obviously, it didn't work," Bush quipped, facing reporters again until an aide rescued him by pointing to him towards the correct door.

That picture is funny. It has that classic "oh noes" expression on it. Hmm, an idea springs to mind. Why not ask for captions on it? The only requirement is that it has to be funny.

That's my assertion, yes. One would note that there was very little support for Kerry other than those who would take someone, anyone, instead of Bush. However, this is a thread for Bush bashing, really.

Of course, one must decide who is the more famous, George W. Bush or Paris Hilton? I would say G.W. is more famous, due to the fact that he is known internationally. Of course, I am uncertain as to Paris Hilton's fame worldwide. Anyone from another country want to contribute?

Perhaps if he was as stupid as everybody thinks he is and as hated as Liberals claim, we wouldn't have elected him for a second term, and he wouldn't have beaten the Democratic party TWICE in the race for President. Just a thought. :)

I'll be the first to admit it, I laughed my ass off. But I think he handled himself great, and it kinda reminds me of when he was somewhere, and his Secret Service agent got cut off in security, and he reached through, and pulled him though.

You should watch more parliamentary interpellations from Europe, most suitably for you the British parliament. You'll see what "laugh at oneself" and "not stuffy" truly means. Perhaps you'll even understand why seeing the brilliant speaker Tony Blair next to someone like Bush is so metaphorically painful.

Mkay, thanks. Yeah, that does give a rough idea, very rough, but compare those to past presidents in times of war.

There's a little saying I have framed and mounted above my desk at work:
"Ideas are like cars - Everybody thinks theirs is the best."

And here's a nice Richard Jeni quote:
After 9-11, I said "That's it! I'm becoming a hard-core, hard-ass, right wing Republican f*cker!" So I run over to the far right, and there they are....your far-right wing crew. A bunch of money-grubbing, greenhouse-gassing, seal-clubbing, bible-thumping, missile-firing, right-to-lifing, lethal-injecting hypocrites! A bunch of people whose idea of a good time is strapping a dead panda to the front of a Lincoln Navigator.....and running over everyone in the gay parade!

So I decided I'm going to move over to the far left, and be with all the looney, lefty, liberal people. And there they are...... A bunch of bong-smoking, America-bashing, flag-burning, yoga-posing, incense-burning, dolphin-saving, salmon-eating hypocrites! A bunch of people who are always screaming about their freedom of speech and expression.......unless you happen to say something that PISSES THEM OFF! Then they can't wait to strap your ass to the rear bumper of a Toyota Hybrid and drag you all the way to the Berkely campus! Then drop your carcass off in front of the Fidel Castro Building for the continuing study on Why America Sucks!

Bipartisan, equal-opportunity-insulter genius. :D

This is a case of a newbie bitching in a thread that has not deteriorated about its subject matter, that happens to be OK by the rules. There is nothing mod actionable in this thread so far, IMHNMO, hence why your mention of Moderation is irrelevant, and my statement isn't hypocritical in the least, as it has nothing to do with reporting things in Moderation and/or rule-breaking.

If you'd take the time to learn about the Electoral College, you'd understand that it protects states rights. Your state gets a certain amount of electorates. You vote to designate who those electorates vote for in the election. Your vote only counts in your state. But it DOES count.

I voted for Bush in PA, and PA didn't vote for Bush, but my vote counted. It's right there in the numbers. Just because you lose, doesn't mean the system is broken. It just means Kerry was a bad candidate. And his wife was a dumb bitch.
