I have found searching through old family documents and the like that my family is originated in Wales. Do they keep historical records anywhere in particular that would enable me to complete my family background. Since the documents I have are lacking.

Try prison records. We traced my Da's side back to the 1700's though them.

Do you know what area in Wales? Narrow it down to the areas or cities as close as you can and start you're search in local church documents- christenings and deaths are normally the ones that are most helpful.

If you know what area your ancestor is from, you could also try contacting people in that area with the same last name. It's a hit and miss approach, but they might be able to help you out.
