y=ax^2+bx+c, b=c=0, a>0
For some reason I get the feeling it would solve a lot of problems if income tax was defined as a parabole.
Except for, I guess, corruption.

If you specified B and C to 0 why have them in the formula?
Why not have it y=ax^2, a>0

Was thinking the same thing lol ... the results should be identical following thoes conditions as far as I can tell
Did someone just have an epiphany in Algebra class? :D

Mainly because there isn't an A in the formula. Now if it was y=ax^2, a>0, then yes, I agree that would be better.

I am a vain introvert and I like to sound more intelligent than I really am.
But really, what about the idea? After about 3 seconds of barely trying, I was able to identify no problems.

Good to see you up and about too:fluffle:
(PS: Exactly has only one x :p)
Hhmmmmmmmm.....
Sounds a bit nerdy. Is this a rule of math yet?:
Is A+B=C
Then A^2+AB+BC=C^2
That formula works every time.

What's the use of it exactly?
And the proof:
A+B=C
so
A=C-B
so
(C-B)^2+(C-B)B+BC=C^2
=
C^2-2BC+B^2+BC-B^2+BC=C^2
=
C^2+(2BC-2BC)+(B^2-B^2)=C^2
=
C^2=C^2
Tada!

my thoughts exactly, think of all the accountants forced to take up a life of crime because people can calculate their own taxes.
Why would that solve alot of problems?
It would reduce income disparity for one. It would give poor people opportunity improve their financial standing. Later on, when they start earning "too much", the extra they presumably "have no need of" goes to the government.
Though exactly what is "too much" is open to debate, just like what you see as "problems".

Better not make too much money, then. You'll risk having to pay the government more than you earn.

Thing is that I don't like the progressive tax...either a flat tax or the Fair Tax.
