Male Contraception

Alright men, I am not sure if you heard, but down South, they seem to be trying some new interesting male contraceptions. *cringes and grabs the balls I do not have* You know.....with the all the crazy things you see about the South, I'm afraid to go there.
Anyway, to the point, apparently, a doctor down South has found a new way for male birth control, which involves batteries, machines, and testicle clamps. What sounds like a wild night might not just be what it seems.....
Electrodes are placed on the testicles, and then zap! there goes your little sperm for a month. Sound like fun now? Good news though, the shock does not kill your sperm, just kind of jolts them a bit and puts them to sleep like a little baby for about a month.
So, with that knowledge I have given you about this deranged news coverage, I would like to hear your opinions on this. Be serious, no little thirteen year old horny kids posting in this thread and furthermore, no immature nonsense speaking people at that. (Yeah....like my statement is going to actually stop you guys from posting anyhow....)
I would really like to know what men think about this and more specifically men in an intimate relationships who use contraceptives. Also, is it the male, female, or both's responsibility to use contraceptives? And, if you were asked by your lover (a serious love relationship.....not lust....not I'm banging this hot chick) would you try this electroshock contraception?

No, I would not. A condom does the trick much better.
And if some people have a problem with them, then they need to sort that out with
a) their partner
b) their doctor
c) their bank account (just in case a mis-hap happens...)
....Geez, I'm starting to think that we're being paid back for all those milleniums of childbirth that women have had to endure...
I seriously doubt the efficacy and existence of this.

Ouch.. *shudders* clamps? electrodes? zap!? Not words I want connected to my balls.
I certainly wouldnt do it voluntarily; but for my lover? If it was necessary, discussed, and found to be the best alternative, I would do it.

It's the responsibility of both partners to use (or not use) contraceptives.
And I wouldn't use that therapy yet. I never heard of it before (any sources?) so I assume it's in testing phase and I'd rather not test such a thing with my private parts at stake :D
I'll stick to the comdom for now.

I doubt how well it is going to work myself.....but hey.....in American we do some strange things.
My largest concern is side-effects and mishaps. It cannot be good zapping a poor man's testicles every month or so.
...And this means of contraception doesn't perform any kind of sexual stimulus? :(

It was on the news this morning.....I know....not somethign you want to hear while you are drinking a cup of coffee early morning. Take in mind, this is happening in the South. I partially live in Florida.....so it's not universal.

Birth control is the responsibility of both people in a heterosexual relationship. After all, generally it takes two people to cause a pregnancy.
Would I try this form of contraception? If it works, of course I would. You see, my ladyfriend is unable to take the birth control pill, because of it interferes with medication she already has to take, and she has stated that she would not be willing to have engage in vaginal intercourse unless we were using condoms and another form of birth control at the same time. If it meant that we could make love without having to worry about her getting pregnant, I wouldn't even hesitate to use this.
However, we're not nearly at that point in our relationship right now.
I heard about this the other day too. I don't think it's what I want for Christmas this year.

Indeed, I'd rather not hear these things in the morning (nor during lunch or dinner). Also I live in Europe, so I assume that if you're talking about the South that you're talking about Texas, Louisana, New Mexico and such?

*rofl* I am so quoting you on this one, even though I do not know you.
But yes, is it not rather absurb? I'm hesitant with the reliability of these measures, but if it works...... *cracks out the whip* it just makes things a little more kinky.

At this moment in my life, I would take a daily kick in the balls to not have kids! Once a month seems like a fair trade for freedom! I just wonder how bad it hurts!

Close enough....but more like Florida, Alabama, the Carolinas, Tennessee.....those states. I'm not sure of the extent of it, and I am definately sure I do not want to know the extent of it.

Well, it does send a clear message. It makes the perfect gift for any man you despise. Not only are you telling him he probably shouldn't breed, but you're also letting him know how you'd like him to think of you whenever you're not around. Ouch!

Seriously, though, I'd have to see a lot more about its efficacy and long-term effects before I'd try it. I remember that last year, they were talking about the effectiveness of implants on chimpanzees to regulate hormone levels . . . conveniently leaving out the fact that only about 2/3 of said chimps managed to regain their fertility. Thank you very much, but a highly effective way of stopping sperm production now does not outweigh the drawback of never getting them swimming again in my mind.
I seriously doubt the efficacy and existence of this.
Indeed.
I thought they were working on a pill for men...
It woudl be nice if that came out. I can't take the pill due to my family history of bloodclots and really the more contraceptives with greater efficiency there are, the better.

I had a vasectomy.
It's supposed to be one of the most reliable birth control methods available.
I've had a zero count for a couple of years now (you go back every once in a while to make sure it's zero).
Very, very liberating.

Honestly if it doesn't hurt... i'd have it. The only thing i am worried about is if you can get testicular cancer or anything of that nature.
Also what happens when the sperm come (no pun intended) back alive. Will all your sperm build up and will you ejaculate like a cup of sperm? Perhaps the electrodes mess with the DNA in the sperm and then the children of the alive sperm will be really mutated and f***ed up?

Yeah seems like a lot more work ... I have a feeling this is not a home monthly procedure lol
Personaly if there were something that has the history behind it like the pill and able to do it by just remembering a pill or patch or something I would absolutly do it
This seems ... a bit scary lol and a lot of work

...Uh...I'll stick with condoms, the pill for the girl, and keep waiting for the male pill.

I'd do it even if it hurts like hell. I mean... one zap, and you're good to go for a whole month, that would great. I might end up just getting a vasectomy, but those are expensive and somewhat hard to reverse.

No way I would do this. I also don't use condoms. I won't sleep with a girl who is not on birth control, but if she does get pregnant, I pay for the abortion. It's important to share responsibility.
And, if you're wondering, no, I'm not too worried about STD's.

Why don't you wear condoms?
Do you have any idea how much less mess there is with condoms?
Also, do you have many sexual partners or are you involved in a monogamous relationship...? (or a series of them)

Well, until recently, I was in a semi-monogomous relationship. Once in a while we would bring home a "toy" with us from a night of partying but I never cheated and I don't think she did either. And I just plain don't like condoms. I like the feel of skin on skin. You're right about the mess, though.
Of course, since we broke up sex has been a non-issue for me. (In other words, I'm not getting any.)

Well, I understand it does not seem trustworthy, but since it was on the news, I have not been able to find an article supporting it online.
Not saying everyone should believe me, but I definately find this rather disturbing and want to know what others think, in the event this actually does happen to become a "normal" means of contraception.
