i have a feeling that i'd do more things with my left (be more ambidextrous) if i hadn't shattered my left wrist and arm in a car crash when i was 11. ah well :(

I am ambidextrous, favour my right hand, but hold my pen like most left-handed people do. So at a glance, most people assume I'm writing left-handed.

Wait.......right or left handed at what?

Normally, writing is the foundation on whether you are right handed or left handed... since writing is so intricate and complex (according to scientists), your writing hand(s) almost always determines whether you are right handed or left handed. So whichever hand(s) you write with is the trait you should be looking for.

Depends on what I'm doing. Generally right handed, but it takes two hands to play most instruments, so they're both equally as strong and dexterous. I write right handed and favor the right, though, so I suppose I'll go with .... who cares?

They don't make lists of smart righties because the list would contain VERY few people, and there will be no point in making it :)

The only contemporary sketch of her shows her holding her sword in her left hand, just like Napoleon is painted with his right hand in his coat.

You are on the NS General forum, you really need to specifiy in details what you are referring to. Otherwise, our minds are left to wonder about....NOT a good thing.

I'm right hand dominate, but am fairly ambidexterous. I can write with both hands, better with my right, but mainly because no one ever taught me to write with my left.

I also sword fight, and one of my fave moves is to switch hands in the middle of combat and through the other person's defensive completely off, because I'll start with my left, and switch to my right, changing stance and everything, lots of fun.

I would also like to add that I can write my name in perfect, although larger then normal in size, cursive with my right and left foot as well, though my left foot sometimes rights backwards.

I write almost always with my right. However, I broke my right hand in grade 4 (when you do those stupid handwritting books) and can write with my left (although larger, slower and somewhat slower). Oddly enough I cannot handwrite with either hand.

Oi, just because I am a freak of nature and one of the few excessively artistic, incredibly creative, extrememly out-of-the-box, synaesthetic, intelligent people doesn't mean all leftie others sharing my traits should be favoured! In my case, it's actually unusual that I'm right-handed.

I type at an average of 110-140 words per minute (my record is 182) with both hands, favouring my right. I can type up to 105 WPM while isolating either hand, but I'm definitely more adept with my right. (I am also very good at typing with my left foot. I can do up to 70 WPM. 60, if I'm typing with a pencil gripped between my toes.) My left eye is stronger than my right. My left leg is stronger than my right. My left trapezius is stronger than my right. I am also, apparently, left-footed. So basically, my left is my dominant side except when it comes to the general arm area.

As far as right/left brain, it's rather a surprise that my right brain is dominant (right brain is creative, out-of-the-box, nonverbal, etc; left is orderly, strict, verbal, and conforming) when I'm so adept with my right hand (I was a child prodigy in art!!! :D). However most people think I am left-brained because I am a total genius when it comes to articulation and spelling. It turns out this is because of my synaesthesia, a condition which generally affects left-handed, creative, artistic (basically, right-brain) people and often intensifies spelling aptitude.

Left handed in Italian is sinestre (sp)...

Two left feet=bad
Right hand man=good
Right/Correct=good

its a conspiracy.

Actually in medieval castles, the spiral staircases were always built to favour the defender- a righthander to boot. If the attacker was a righty then they had a torrid time advancing. A lefty on the other hand had it much much easier :)

Today's political views are too broad and varied to be judged by the old left and right system. A better, newer way to judge your place on the political spectrum is using a two axis spectrum like on the www.politicalcompass.org website. It's a really cool website that my history teacher showed me. By the old left right system I'm definitely left and on the political compass I end up very far down in the bottom left quadrant.

Edit:

Oh... we're talking about hands... I thought people were being smartasses

Super Dave (http://bobeinstein.com/) and DiCaprio (http://www.leonardodicaprio.com/) notwithstanding, one's handedness is only a limitation or benefit if one has the appropriate kind of scissors for the task at...uh...hand.

Everyone in THIS house has his or her mouse firmly planted to the sinister side of the keyboard.
