Experiment proves that tin foil (aluminum) hats are useless...or are they?

Conclusion
The helmets amplify frequency bands that coincide with those allocated to the US government between 1.2 Ghz and 1.4 Ghz. According to the FCC, These bands are supposedly reserved for ''radio location'' (ie, GPS), and other communications with satellites (see, for example, [3]). The 2.6 Ghz band coincides with mobile phone technology. Though not affiliated by government, these bands are at the hands of multinational corporations.

It requires no stretch of the imagination to conclude that the current helmet craze is likely to have been propagated by the Government, possibly with the involvement of the FCC. We hope this report will encourage the paranoid community to develop improved helmet designs to avoid falling prey to these shortcomings.

So wearing a tin foil hat could make you more susceptible to government radio waves...or is that just what they want you to think?

Just a tip:

tin and aluminium are not the same thing

From what I've read, aluminium amplifies, but tin blocks.

I prefer a lead hat myself, if I don't die from the poisoning

I just remove my head whenever I feel a government transmission coming through.

How about a copper mesh engulfing the entire room?

Hence my parenthetical. What is idiomatically called "tin foil" is actually aluminum. Therefore what people usually use when constructing a "tin foil hat" is aluminum foil.

Anyone have a link to an experiment similar to this involving actual tin?

Does it matter if it has a high voltage/low amperage current running through it?

I think tin foil used to be real tin, but aluminium is cheaper to manufacture, and people didn't realise the difference.

Your electrical wiring hardly engulfs the room. Also, there's the slight possibility that the wiring is also aluminum, in which case you might want fire insurance.

Does anyone want a really dull and technical explanation? Didn't think so. Here's the executive summary.

Those signals are there all the time. There is nothing that these goofs could do to make those signals appear or disappear. In particular the 2000-2600 MHz signals are the nemesis of any S-band tracking system without adequate filtering. Did you ever see the control spectrum sweep without the signal generator? It would be identical to what they showed with the signal generator.

Only if the anode is at the doorknob and the cathode is at the doormat.

Ok, for thos einterested in this and wanting to fuel their paranoia...

Studies have conclusively shown that the human brain opperates between 60 and 85 Hz. Given that fact, the study quoted was checking the wrong frequencies.

Furthermore, given that these are MIT geniuses, they should have known this.

Are they part of the conspiracy?

Only if it's organic.

Damn, there goes my defense against government mind-control. I guess I'll have to settle for those special holy love-crystals of love I bought on Ebay to keep me safe from the Reptilians.
