Well, all I can say to that is that I'm most pleased (yet again) with NYC.

Go there and educate yourselves :)

Good to see that not everyone is falling for the non-scientific approach of origins.

And today's cookie goes to the guy who drew that.

Kudos, too, to the exhibition, as long as it doesn't try to be preachy. If it tries to be preachy it'll just provoke cynicism in the undecided.

I only wish I could go - but I really can't afford the flight and until I grow fins swimming is out of the question.

Yeah! Didn't Harriet just have her 175th birthday? Man, that turtle was five when Darwin stumbled across it. If only turtles could talk, I'd be interested in how Darwin was like.

Talk about Turtle Power! :p

(And it is not all too bad that there is the Atlantic Ocean. Sure, sometimes it's in the way. Then again, if it keeps us from getting there, it might very well work the other way around? Just kidding - as I've said before, I wish I could go to NYC again)

Assuming that she isn't assassinated by creationists.:p

As a smug resident of the UK, I can blissfully wonder what is so earth-shattering about a natural history museum. :D

Why the Museum of Natural History didn't have an exhibition about evolution beforehand escapes me... After all it is the only PLAUSABLE theory of human creation out there (unless you believe that "God" made man out of a ball of mud and a rib).

yeah though despite the fact evolution is the widly accepted explanation in britain its still possible to get a A in biology GCSE by answer any question where the answer is evolution by saying god did it (GCSE's are the examinations we do at 16 here in britain at the end of high school) Does this scare anybody else

there is a related story I saw of them not having any corprate backing for the exhibition as companies are scared of pissing off stupid people.:headbang:

That is so sad. Instead of being able to boast with sponsoring science you have to be afraid to lose customers who don't have a clue about things? Freaky, really.

Accept no belief dogmatically. Including evolution. Newtons theory of gravity is an example of that. I expect some modification of evolution in the future.

yeah it was when I did them (4 years ago)

though the myth about smarties have the answer very funny but just a myth

...but don't expect a modification of ID/creationism anytime soon. It will *always* be GODDIDIT!!111ONEONEONE.

Indeed. However, because ID and creationism state a supernatural force as the main argument to their theory thier theory can never be accepted as natural science.

Dude, evolutionary theory has been modified and tweaked since its inception. That's whay scientists do. That's the nice thing about theories as opposed to laws- you're allowed to change theories to fit circumstances. Any future modifications probably won't be any more drastic, unless and until we find another planet with life on it- that'll be the big test.

If it's intelligent life on another planet - I'd be intrigued what their approach would be.

"God did it!"

"Our God did it!"

"Guys, it's evolution for everyone!"

"STFU!" "STFU!"
