Who is the most powerful man in the world?
Basic question. Which one man has the most power in the world. I doubt that it is Bush in that he doesnt have absolutist power over the country he "governs", and must receive congressional approval for everything he does (which would be a good thing, but over half of congress are Bush look-a-likes). Instead i vote for Hu Jintao, the president of China.

Unfortuantly. The fact that he leads the most powerful nation in the world is all I need. And yes, technially he needs Congress's aproval for everything he does, that law had been a little- sidestepped, shall we say?- since the 80's on. See- Iran Contra, operations in south america, heroin in Laos, hell, Laos in general, Cambodia...

While Australia is not ther most powerful in the world, he has control of the Senate and House Of Representatives unless some one crosses the floor, whuich is rare in Australia.
If he keeps his party in line, he can pass any law he likes,
Eg IR Laws, Sale Of Telstra, etc.

In terms of leaders Bush is really very limited, public support for him looks low and liberal democracys always have lots of constraints on its leaders power so clearly not him by a long shot.
In theory the Queen has all the powers of the British parliament and could go to war/control the army, pretty much do most things. Reality would prob result in a civil war. So as far as leaders go China has to be on top.
My personal guess is the real powerful people are the stockholders who control billions worth of money and are never seen or heard from, they control the economy and forget stuff like the mafia those types have the real power.
