I've come up with the solution to the worlds problems! Make it the law that it is mandatory to smoke Marijuana if your a politician! No law shall be passed without the benefits of a good joint.

How many wars would be avoided?

How many useless bills would be avoided?

How many good ideas would be made? After all, isn't it ussually the simplest solution that works the best? How do you feed the homeless? Duh, give them food. How do you house them? Duh, give them houses. How do you cut dwon on crime? Duh, give them weed.

I think the simple stoners approach is always a good one. Give a man a bong, and he'll give you a great idea. And instead of hours of bickering over the dumb ideas, it would be 5 minutes of gut busting laughter, followed by a bong session, and the next item on the agenda!

Before I found Christ, when I was part of the drug underworld, every crime was preceded by a joint (or more specifically, a blunt, no one uses joints). Whether you were going to rob someone, assault someone, or go to war against another drug point, you smoked a blunt before you went out to do it. It helps relax your nerves so you can focus on what you are going to do and has the nice bonus of providing a buffer between yourself and your actions cus everything doesnt seem so real when you are in a haze.

Marijuana is useless for fighting crime.

Doing so would easily eliminate all violence and crime as we know it. The only tricky part would be getting enough ganga to do so, but I think if had enough hemp farms making THC extract out of all their crops, it would be quite doable.

for example I have a condition which means my body chemistry is significantly different to yours (probably) for example speed slows me down (it was one of the drugs used to keep my condition down in extreme cases in the bad old days)

Odd, because I regularly smoke weed and drive at the same time, yet the only accident I've ever been in occured while I was stone-cold sober [it was a major one too--I flipped a convertible going 90 mph [144kph]]. If you get to imply sweeping generalizations like this, turnabout is fair play.

I voted for 'Uptight Prick" because of the fact that I'm not a big fan of ANY substance that clouds better judgement. Granted I never hit a bong, snorted coke, drank a beer, or tripped out on something; but, seriously, I see enough people on any of this stuff at tech high everyday (just yesterday, a good friend of mine was tripping in school. Said I looked like a 'sea goddess' and I'm a guy...that has ranked as #1 wierdest moment in my life) to know what all that crap does. So, no drugs or beer for me; same for marijuana. But, I'm all for legalization of all substances. Not because I think the world would be a better place if everyone was high; private industry, the government, and the drug lords stand to make BILLIONS! I propose that the US gov take an approach similiar to alcohol; discourage it, but it's still legal. Next, the gov taxes the drugs; ALL OF THEM. The total sales tax would be your states sales tax PLUS a 3% drug tax PLUS to gross cost of products and products related to it. Before you fly off the handle, consider this; imagine an America where there is no government deficit. Where social security is well funded and the government can afford to help those in need. Imagine an America in an ecomomic BOOM. Imagine being a bong company president rolling in dough. I guess I'm a cold-hearted centrist, capitalist dog; and I'm lovin' it! There ya go.

Recently in Denver, Co they passed a bill that allows for one ounce of the substance to be legal and even though it conflicts with federal law and is still technically illegal it is a stepping stone. For example all of the surrounding districts are also starting to get it onto the ballots. I have also heard that it is starting to affect other states.

All of the Drugs with a deffinative list of how its made or grown should be legalized to an extent I mean take LSD for example the unbiased people who did research on its use on drug and alcoholics found that over 50 percent of the guided people gave up there addiction while AA has a horribly low success rate, and you know what the government did for Research they took unstable people chained them to a desk and pumped them with almost 100x the necessary dossage and left them look it up. as for MJ there are certain people on a list getting it shipped to them from the U.S. government as medicinal aid but anyone else can be arrested for possesion it has a medicinal use. many of the other banned drugs have medicinal purposes in controlled doses. If you want to ban anything ban alcohol and cigarretes everyone says mj is the steppingstone for drug addicts when the easily acquirable and legal Alcohol is much more likely to be the "gateway drug". And unlike Mj cigarrete tobacco isnt strait tobacco anymore it has enough additives to make it addictive and much more HAZARDOUS.

As for my friends, I cant tell you how many of my friends lives Ive seen fucked up by drugs. They have holes in their brains. This one guy had a stroke at forty and the left side of his body is worthless. For that one moron several posts back, in a completely seperate incident before the stroke, he crashed his corvette into a telephone pole at 80 miles an hour. Turned the fiberglass into shards... lucky for him he walked away without a scratch.

It will not be legalized unless taxed, since the average joe can grow the shit. It was this was years ago. I've never felt guilty for smoking pot, but I have for drinking beer ... {U.S.= Beers legal, pot isn't - you should've felt guilty immediatly for puffing your pipe.. not swigging the beer}( Mans eyes yes, but not my higher power) Wrong in my case. I'm an alcoholic-- alcohol is the "drug" that use to make me "jones". Even when I stopped smoking(Cigs)/drinking I still smoked pot and I never once felt guilty in my spirit. Pot wasn't my "door", my weakness ..was and is alcohol, and cigerettes just made me feel bad for the fact that I was smoking them period, since I was aware of how shitty and nasty they made me feel, and the fact that I was addicted to continue on that cycle.

Ok I am 39 yrs old. I have Post Traumatic Stress Didorder from 2 severe head injuries that happened when I was at work (I was LPN and I sober and straight when I was attacked by a pateint the first time and when I got smacked by fire door that was opening ). I am premantly disabled due it. I can not take pharmecuetical drugs they F* with me and make WAY worse some even made me suicidal like Zoloft.
I have HORRID nightmares nearly weekly and alot of trouble sleeping. I often have periods of time (weeks sometimes) where I just can't go out. I also can't go to malls,Wal-Mart etc alone due to neural damage from the head injuries, I lose awareness like augsberger syndrome.

Pot is the ONLY thing that helps me to function even somewhat normallly. Pot relieves the nightmares and flashbacks I get. It eases the anxiety I often feel when I am in crowds. I never smoked regularly until AFTER I began to have PTSD symptoms when I was 35

So before any else gets all "righteous" walk a mile in my shoes!
Also as a former LPN with hospice exp, many many ppl cancer patients, AIDS patients etc benefot from pot. I know an AIDS pateint that if it weren't pot he wouldn't be able to eat. He is 6'3" and barely 150..I hate to think how thin he'd be without pot.

Another thing. Mayor Mike Bloomberg of NYC was/is a pot smoker. Ditto for Gatewood Galbraith author and one THE most prominent attorneys in the USA. In fact there is an actual association of lawyers that are pot smokers and work for legalisation in their spare time. Thomas Jefferson smoke pot and so did Queen Victoria of England.

Wille Nelson is a pot head, so was Jerry Garcia. They ALL have attained far more sucess in life than most anyone posting on here.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles! If it makes you feel better, I will be fighting until the day I die to get it legalized. I have scoliosis, anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and depression. When I smoke weed, it all goes away without losing my thoughts.

Guys i don't know if any of you have heard but Denver past a law(I-100) which it's not illegal to pocess i oz of marijuana. But It would work, it was orginially for medical purposes, but drug addicts will find anyway to smoke it but it's still illegal to none the less, it intertwines with federal law, so, a cop can still arrest you.
