Who's Getting Oblivion?
With The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion coming out over the next five months, who's getting it? I just pre-ordered it, and discovered that (because I live in the UK) I'm not getting it for Christmas. The release date comes pretty close my birthday. IN MARCH! I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!
Oblivion is going to absolutely k4-p'//n every other game that comes out over the next few months.
So, who (if anyone) is getting it?

If my labtop could handle it I would, but it will not:(
should be good, just have to figure out all the glitches in it
A real shame :(
It's a shame that all the NPC's will refer to each other (and you) as 'Darryl' in all the speech. How hard is it for them to do a voice recording of every possible combination of letters and numbers?

Err... That was a joke... Think about it:
NPC: "You must find Darryl in his castle! My good friend Darryl, you will engage in this quest to find Darryl for me, poor Darryl, won't you?"
No one is getting Oblivion for Christmas because they won't be releasing the game until early 2006, for everybody.

"Everyone in Oblivion, including the player, is named Darryl. This makes life much simpler for the voice actors, though we have found that it makes introductions a bit more awkward.
"I'm Darryl. This is my brother Darryl. This is my other brother Darryl." (so help me, if anyone takes that seriously...)"
Looks like a joke to me.
I'm getting it! Eventually. Maybe. I hope.

Well Morrowind was very fun and had literally years of play time, and the graphics for Oblivion look astonishing. But my computer would never run it, so i'll just wait for Xbox 360.

Definitely getting it for my birthday which is in march so that works out just perfectly.
The Daedric armour looks like Sauron in Oblivion XD

I've finally saved up enough money to buy a new computer, and so I am going to get a computer good enough to play Oblivion. Or so I hope. My current computer even lags a little with Rise of Nations with all the settings (except resolution) turned down. Intel Celeron (1.7 ghz) processor + GeForce FX 5200 + whatever mobo I have + 394 mbs of RAM = steaming pile of shit.
Anyone know what parts I should buy? I thinking of an AMD Athlon 64 3700+, DFI Lanparty mobo, 1 gb of RAM, eVGA GeForce 7800 GT.
Back on topic. Yes, I will be getting Oblivion. I loved Morrowind (I like saying that with the Spanish erre sound), and I think Oblivion will pwn.
The FX 5200 is not that bad :S

It may not be all that bad by itself, but when you add the other parts together, it just plain sucks. I intend to overclock this computer to death when I buy a new one. Let's see if that Celeron can make 9 ghz with no cooling whatsoever :gundge:
I find that the reccomended specs they put out for games are really hugely OTT. My ancient PC with 800mb RAM, an absolutely ancient Athlon and various other pants specs can run HL2 okay. Thankfully I'm getting a new one. I think I've had this one since the late nineties, and the only thing that kept it from the scrapheap was the frequent graphics card upgrades.
I am going to buy it. Morrowind is (next to Baldurs Gate 2) the best game ever. Oblivion looks like it is going to be even better.
I'm looking forward to the Galaxies style character-creation. No longer will I be forced to use models that do not suit my character!
