Hmm, the upper container looked like the one in Gnome. I just got a new computer and was gonna get Ubuntu on it, but it turns out that Linux doesn't like my CD burner. Not a single install CD from several different dists has wanted to work. Sure, they boot, but as soon as the installation's Linux kernel has to take over, it spazzes out and can't read the CD any more. I have found no solution so far. :(

You've got to post the screenshot tutorial for those of us that have forgotten.

Simply press the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard, open your image manipulation programme and "paste" it in. Then save as a jpg and upload to whatever image host you use.

It emulates some newer 3d technology like Hardware TnL. Not normally recommended, but my machine can handle the extra weight on the system ram, rather than the Intel GME chipset this laptop is stuck with.

I've tried to get DOSbox to work as I used to love Mech 2, but I decided that if it still wasn't gonna work after seven hours of troubleshooting, I needed to give up.

Actually, I prefer the simplicity. I prefer Tabs, and stuff like "weather fox". I dont do much surfing, and I screen all downloads. Even with the fox.

My achievement today was getting nintendo wifi to work with my router/wap. Took 4 hours, a firmware update on both devices, a search for the wap cnfg utility, and an hour playing with the router firewall to get it to allow traffic on the port. Not to mention hunting down my DNS IP for static IP settings on the DS itself.

The true test of a geeks ability is getting something to work on absolutly nothing.

Very nice, I'm still a 35mm man myself - just this summer got a Rollei B35 manual compact from my Great Aunt. It's what, 40 years old, and it takes fantastic photos.

But enough hijacking...
i'm not quite done hijacking yet ;)
there hasn't been a photographers' thread on here in ages, not since swimmingpool was active... perhaps its time for a new one...

anyways, i'm a photography noob but i do a lot of it in my work, so i need to get great pics, fast, lots of em at a time (20D can do 5 fps at 8mp), and for them to be quality enough to use blown up on banners and the like... not to mention having them ready for use the same day as they're taken sometimes... hence i'm a 100% digital man (and have been since i got my first olympus e-10 a few years back) :)

however i do really love photography and want to get into it more as an art form (or hobby, whatever), so i'm up for experimenting with film. my dad has a very nice old canon 35mm which i can use... the problem is getting them developed - i've been spoiled by digital in that i want my pictures now... now now now! ;)

anyways, quite right, enough hijacking... we need a thread of our own :P

My case is an offbrand Xilco ... lol it was to expensive to go thermaltake case of the size I needed (that board is a MASIVE extended ATX board)

I have never used it either, I was able to guess because it has the SUSE logo at the top left, next to Applications. I say guess because, if he wanted to, he could put that logo there while running Ubuntu and Fedora.

If you could place a custom button in the button's place or if you could ditch the button and use a mouse click, I would use it. What it does is very cool, but it is too damn ugly.

I have a bigass screen file that randomizes my wallpaper, this one is a South Park (duh) version of a former co-worker. She's down right adorable (it's not like that you freaks) and I thought her South Park character came out the same. We worked at a non-profit ticket office that primarily had phone orders, and she was a supervisor to explain the headset and badge.
