Inspired by Lt. Cody's thread on rifle rounds, I was wondering what you shootists perfered in handgun rounds.

9mm Parabellum OR .45 ACP?

Depends on what you are shooting at. For target shooting you really don't need anything other than 9mm. If you actually have talent, it honestly doesn't matter what you have. You can still hit what you are aiming for. Come to think of it, I prefer 9mm overall.

Neither. I like my 40 cal Smith & Wesson Sigma. The stopping power of a 45, and the high capacity mag of a 9mm.

It's not common as the previous two, that's why I didn't include it.

=/ I like my .45 better then the 9's I've shot, so it gets my vote.

Many police forces (including ALL in Florida) have been switched to the 40 from the 9mm for about 5 years now. The 9's just didn't have the power they needed.

9mm. But I'm biased. I have an old P38, and it holds a special place in my heart. It was the first gun I ever owned, the first gun I ever shot, and the first gun I ever cleaned. Sure, it kicks like a .45, has a bad habit of throwing shells at your face, and isn't as accurate as most modern guns, but I love it anyway. On a more practical note, I have a Cx4 in 9mm and I put so many rounds through it at the range that .45 would bankrupt me.

Does that mean...you "loves your gun"?

I like .45 caliber because I'm used to it. I think a .40 would be pretty nice because of all the extra rounds that you can put in the magazine. If a 9 mm hollow-point had as much energy at the target as a .45, then it would be perfectly acceptable. I just like the idea of a 230 grain slug.

I'm sure someone has done or seen a comparison that shows what the muzzle velocity and bullet weight to prove that a 9 mm has just as much kinetic energy as a .45.

Due to ignorance, I must again pick the cutest looking option.

It would have to be the Parabellum.
