How sensitive is your mouse? Mines on the third highest setting (about 6 cm (2.4 in) of mat to one crossing of the screen).

Mine is at the 4th lowest setting. I have a trackball, so I need it slow to get any accuracy.

5th from the highest. have an optic mouse and so its a bit more sensitive then the standard ball mouse.

Mines roughy the same as the op (using FreeBSD with xfce so the settings are a bit different then windows)
