I sense the general attitude is rather in sympathy with long-gone Colin Powell, but I thought I'd make a poll about it anyway.

I think he was probably the only guy with any sense in Bush's first cabinet, and he tried his damnedest to fulfill his job while still acting honorably and satisfying his duty to the American people. He was a credit to the job, and it is one of Cheney's more egregious offenses that he ran Powell's name through the mud to tilt the balance in favor of the war. It's too bad that as good a judge of character as the President is supposed to be, he didn't listen to the guy who actually knew what a war would be like rather than Che Dick.

Your poll needs more options. I think the General would make an excellent President, but it's highly unlikely he'll ever run. Sigh.

No doubt! Nice "unbiased" poll ya got there. Either he's a really great guy tricked by the Evil Bush Nazis, He's an Evil Bush Nazi, or I'm an apathetic dolt who just doesn't care.

I'll go with choice 4. One vote for "You suck at making polls"

Well, thanks. I knew I should have made five options like I did on the Condi poll...

He's the true sign of what a retainer should be. He placed utter trust in his leader and did his best to serve well, which he did. I'd be his kaishaku in a second!

My favourite Republican I would say.

He sided with the guys from the diplomatic corps, who said it was a stupid idea to piss off all your Allies.
He sided with the guys from the army, who said it was a stupid idea to take out Iraq with only 100,000 dudes or something.

He did everything as right as he could've, his only real failure being outvoted by the Neocons.

Powell (R) vs Clark or Lieberman (D)...now there's a presidential election I'd be happy with.

Colin Powell was the only guy that made the Bush Administration worth baring. Now he's gone, and he's probably better for it, no longer associated with those clusterfucks.

And so would a lot of people in the US.
