I haven't watched The West Wing in ages and probally should. Namely because when you don't you miss out on brilliant little lines this one:
alan alda's char was talking about jimmy smits being liberal like it was the plague
And smits said something resembling "You say the word liberal as if it's meant to insult. Like it's a negative thing. The most important and progressive actions that have taken place in this country have been brought about by liberals."
"The slaves were freed by liberals. Liberal republicans. They did alot. and what did you do to them? you ran them out of your party as if they'd commited some crime."
"You spit that word out at me. And i'll pick it up, and stick it on my chest like a badge of honor."
Brilliant, simply brilliant. if anyone has the original quote I'd love you long time.
