Two documentaries about North Korea
What do you think? (See links below). If I can, I'll see if I can get hold of them. I'd be very interested to see them, especially the second one, for an insight into life in the DPRK.

Hmm... I'd have thought people would be more interested than this. Is it because you don't know anything about the events in question? Or you know very little about North Korea?

Geez.
Everyone knows that the DPRK is a socialist paradise, as opposed to the Kepitali$t controlled South Korea.
The evil Americans had no reason to violently put down the Revolution of the Proletariat!

I... beg your pardon? Who's saying that? I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone outside the DPRK making those kinds of claims.

You should know better than to take me seriously.
Silly Rabbit.

Heh. Your comment just surprised me a little. I wasn't sure what it had to do with the topic.
I'll know better next time. :p

Yep. It's really easy to convince filmmakers that everything is just hunky-dory in an autocratic regime where the only people to whom you're exposed are the ruling class in one city, and there is no free press whatsoever.
We in the US have to live with the constant emphasis of a sensationalistic media on the bizarre, the weird and the unusual. Silly us, having a free press! Tsk!
I have seen _A State Of Mind_ last year during the IDFA (http://www.idfa.nl/idfa_en.asp)
You know they live in a crappy country, but really cannot imagine it until you see it :(

Somehow, I don't think the film-makers were "taken in", nor were they trying to paint a rosy picture over a dire situation. Read the article, and the post just below yours.

It's worth seeing, then? Anything that lets us know more about the situation would be worth it in my view, if it's well done.

Yes, it is a really beautiful movie...

Have you accualy read the North Korean news? It's worth a laugh every once in a while.

Yes, I used to read their online newspaper occasionally. It's worth a snigger or two, and is quite fascinating really. They live in their own peculiar brand of "reality".
Plus, there are some (partial and selected) facts about what's going on in there.
