I'm confused as to whether you're referring to conservatism, or the bastardized, Jesus-injected neo version?

Fiscal Responsibility: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

"Do as I say, not as I do.": Seeing how Republicans are acting, from telling people how to live to telling politicians how to announce their private inter-marital issues, I'm thinking this is pretty much true.

Beat the Democrats: Not only. And besides, wasn't the Rep Party founded before the Dems?

State's rights: Hardly. This whole Federalism thing is a hollow excuse for Conservatives to push their repressive agenda whenever it goes against the constitution. In all other cases, they have no problem with giving power to Federal authorities.

"Personal responsibility": Doesn't work with Christianity.

Lie, lie, lie, lie, scare, scare, scare, scare: Well, that's a no-brainer. Yes.

Note that I'm talking about the US Republican Party, not conservative politics in general.

I'm taking it that way too, so I voted for the DAISNAID option as well.

What, no Myrth option?
To define conservative....I would have to go with so-so economic policy mixed with the social policy of a theocracy.

To be brutally honest, conservativism is about resisting changes that threaten the rich and powerful. Indeed, often, it's about resisting changes simply out of fear even when there is little benefit for anyone from them.

Conservative voters:

Smaller government, personal responsibility

Conservative politicians:

Protecting their images by any means necessary, and getting away with whatever else they can.

Incredibly, conservative voters are separate from conservative politicians. I wish NS could realize this (instead of pretending to) and remove a huge amount of poisonous hatred. :/

Actually, the distinction between conservatism and neoconservatism has nothing to do with religion.. neoconservative doctrine makes no mention of religion, at least not any I've ever seen or heard about.

Fiscal responsibility: *snort* Not touching this one. NO

"Do as I say, not as I do.": Aye, very much so. YES

Beat the Democrats: Yep. By the way, the Democrats are older than the Republicans. At one point, the two parties were the opposite of what they are now- the Republicans were supported in the North, while the Democrats were supported in the South. Then Kennedy and Johnson went for civil rights, the South abandonded the Democrats, and these conservatives found their way to the Republican party, which had lost favor in the North, which in turn was sympathetic to the civil-rights-promoting Democrats. YES

State's rights: Considering the fact that Bush has peeled away various National Guard units and sent them to Iraq, modern conservative politicians seem to lean against states' rights. NO

"Personal responsibility": Aye, with the amendment: "Whether or not it's actually your fault." YES (snarkily)

Lie, lie, lie, lie, scare, scare, scare, scare.: Oh, definitely. YES

Don't measure conservatism by what it has become, but it is.

A conservative person is someone who is not too fond of change and like change to happen slowly. This can be applied to economics, foreign policy and all aspects of politics.
