I say that Jordan would have nothing to gain from it.

a) They would get their people exploded in Iraq as well as at home.
b) It would cost heaps of money.
c) Iraqis wouldn't forgive them for being part of the occupation. They'd better get prepared for happy days ahead if they went in.

I don't think it will happen. Jordan has been attempting to play Sweden for the middle east. They try not to get involved, yet maintain a polite accomodating attitude. Consider that Jordan trys to distance itself from the whole Israel/Palestinian affair, yet they offered citizenship to any palestinian who wishes to move to Jordan.

I think the thing people forget; Jordan has one of the most crappiest armed forces in the middle east; talk to anyone who has ever worked with Jordanian soldiers, and they'll tell you that they're only a notch up from Syria, which are pretty crap as they are.

They won't enter Iraq. However, they will put more diplomatic heat on Syria, for the terrorists most likely entered the country through there. The Assad government is an expert in making enemies.

Or just read up on the Six Day War.

Or just read up on the Six Day War.

Yeap, and there more wars; Soviet Union armed the middle east countries to the teeth, and they still got beaten by a country 1/10th their size; its pathetic, and its a scary thought that these people are given commanding posts in the UN.

I highly doubt Jordan would try to move into Iraq, at least if it has any expectations of surviving in the middle east. Such an action would be a great excuse for both its neighbours and eventually the US to "retalliate".

Take a look at Iran, while you're at it. It's keeping as closely as it can to whatever the western world demands, since they can see the marines coming at a moments notice if they give them some excuse to do so.

Armed and uninvited Jordanians (with the Jordanian govt doing nothing to stop it) are already going into Iraq regularly.
