I know I'm gonna catch shit for mentioning the "Great Satan" of news channels, but oh well. Tonight at 8pm est. there is a special on, called "The heat is on, a case for global warming" which I think everybody should watch.
Basically, from the snippets Ive seen, it's gonna get scary in the next few decades.
8pm est. Fox news network. Global warming. We're all gonna die. Be there!

Pretty typical of you. I bring up a good show that people should watch, but since it's on Fox, you'd rather be a douchebag, instead of 1)commenting in an adult manner 2)staying the fuck out of it.
I am so not surprised at all.

You fucking people just can't get over your loathing of Fox, can you? Watch the fucking show, or don't watch the fucking show.
Whatever, you fucking broken records.
fox news takes forever to catch on to anything bad unless democrats started it.
"Billy Bob McFake here for fox news. We are getting reports a fire might have broken out and destroyed chicago. I have not spoken to anyone even remotely connected to the story, but it appears it was started by a cow who kicked over a lamp, probably because it was tired of high, DEMOCRAT IMPOSED taxes.

It's all sensationalized...Global warming is a problem, but they always give us the worst case scenario. Who knows, maybe global warming will end the drought in Sudan or something? No one can possibly tell.
Another thing.....has anyone else noticed that no matter where you go, from Boston to LA Fox news always reports the exact same stuff in the same order?
Its something like this
Murder
Murder
Accident
Public Relations
Sneak Weather
Public Relations
DANGER TO THE CHILDREN
Another Weather
Cutesy Animal Story
Something completely insignificant from somewhere else in the country (ie, a bad fire or car crash)
Real Weather
Famous shit no one cares about either...
Or is that just me?
Have any of you seen the episode of the simpsons where Krusty runs for president, and he has a debate on fox news? Hilarious parody...

Adding in that "Warning" to your initial post is rather childish. Global Warming is a reality the rest of the planet has known about for quite some time. Choosing to get snitty, and using less-than-appropriate profanities doesn't alter that fact.

If it's so damn important, and it seems to be something I'm taking an interest in, then why come one shout FOX SUCKS! instead of being nice about it, and maybe trying to discuss it with me?

I'd say it's primarily the regular consumers of FoxNews programming who are in the greatest need of factual information re: Global Warming, and as such their glaring needs will hopefully be met by this evening's fare.
Though I really wouldn't necessarily count on it.

Maybe if you started out a post with something like this, it would have gone somewhere:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: Fox News' Global Warming Special: Putting the Conserve Back into Conservatism Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Fri Nov 11, 1:02 AM ET
A Fox News Special “The Heat is On: The Case of Global Warming” airing this Sunday at 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. EST, documents the devastating impacts that global warming is already having on our planet. In one segment of the show, I accompany a Fox News crew to Glacier National Park in Montana where only 27 of the 150 glaciers that graced the park in 1850 remain--and these will be gone within our generation. The portrayal of global warming in Fox’s piece is both fair and accurate.
I spent a summer in a tent in Africa with Roger Ailes in 1973 making a wildlife film. He is charming, affable, very smart, and very, very funny. Although we both believe that each other’s politics are misguided, we have remained friends for three decades. Last year, I asked Roger, as a personal favor, to attend Al Gore’s New York City update on global warming science. Although he left that presentation still agnostic, he was convinced that the debate deserved a public airing. I argued that since there is no such thing as Republican or Democratic children, global warming should not be a partisan but only a scientific issue. The Fox News team did a superb job exploring the science. This film should be seen be everyone. The end product goes a long way toward putting the conserve back into conservatism.

I'm not sure what I hate more, the way Fox News is so blatently biased, the way gang up against the one moderate left guest for not worshipping the Bush agenda or the way they cut people off mid sentence for defending themselves.
Then again, keep in mind Newscorp is eeril liberal in Australia.

They market themselves to the audience that they can make the most money from. If anything, it's good business sense to tailor your programs and political leanings to the most profitable audience in each country. It might not be honest, but it's good business sense.
Of course, Fox's conservative slant might explain the comparative superiority of their business shows, but that's another debate.:p

Personally, I think the worry about global warming is a whole lot of hyperventilation over nothing. There have been changes in climate occuring in cycles ongoing for a long long time. Obviously we are in a warming trend now. No big deal. It will cool off again, given time. For every panic stricken news brief about global warming, you can, if you look, also find something that bears this cyclical warming/cooling trends theory out.

BBC, Fox, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, AlJazeera, the list goes on... nothing's completely neutral. Other than the phrase, "Someone did something today. They did things that involved stuff." But knowing the media, it would soon turn into a full investigation with witness interviews and press briefings.

It's probably got to do with this trend in the States that the News needs to entertain - and part of that has to do with telling people what they want to hear.
People get annoyed at the news in Europe or Australia too, but that doesn't generally mean that they demand a different station that tells them things they agree with.

Hearing what we want to hear in America is a luxury that we no longer can afford. But as long as there are Ted Turners, Rupert Murdocs and Michael Grades, we'll always have biased media, blatantly forcing their opinions on the TV-brainwashed majorities, minorities, undecideds and apathetics. (That goes for all of you... all sides, no mercy.)

It's that marketing weasels have been given far far far too much importance in all aspects of our day-to-day lives, regardless of how that may lower the bar for all concerned. Jimmy doesn't like bad news about the war on Terror, and if Jimmy doesn't hear what he wants to hear, he might just change the channel before we get to throw a lot of adverts for Wheatie-Puffs or life insurance or boner medication at Jimmy. So tell Jimmy what he wants to hear, right? Makes sense to the marketing weasels - and ought never to be allowed near an actual team of journalists. The worst part, from my point of view, is that these pinheaded yes-men really think they're worth their salaries.
