Your favourite part of the Qu'ran

This can be a verse, a book, a chapter, or what have you. I know a bit about Islamic history and a teeny bit about it's theology, but it's one thing to read about a theory and another thing entirely to hear about its adherents' spiritual experiences or thoughts.

If you prefer, tell us a spiritual experience that helped you find where you are today or even a specific point about Islam that you feel distinguishes it positively from every other belief system.

Thanks, and God bless! :D

I'm not Muslim, but I learned a little about it both at school and through having had a Sufi Mulsim boyfriend for a good while (yes, I know it sounds tacky to cite that as evidence, but we genuinely did discuss religion and spirituality a lot).

My favourite, as a verse definitely for tolerance and love, is probably:

And do not dispute with the followers of the Book except by what is best, except those of them who act unjustly, and say: We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is One, and to Him do we submit.(Qur'an 29:46)

I don't know if this was in the Qu'ran but Muhammad once said don't wage Gehad (forgive my spelling) on others for they might be right.

"When the sun ceases to shine; when the stars fall down and the mountains are blown away; when camels big with young are left untended and the wild beasts are brought together; when the seas are set alight and men's souls are reunited; when the infant girl, buried alive, is asked for what crime she was slain; when the records of men's deeds are laid open and the heaven is stripped bare; when hell burns fiercely and Paradise is brought near: then each soul shall know what it has done."

And thereafter We said to the Children of Israel: "Dwell securely in the Promised Land." And when the last warning will come to pass, we will gather you together in a mingled crowd. (Qur’ân XVII. 104)
