Ninja Mod seeks help for school project!

Alright, for the curious or even those few who might like to honestly help a mod out, here's the situation:

For my public speaking class this semester, I have had to do a number of speeches to the class- I've informed people about the Leonid meteor shower, I've demonstrated how to make riceballs, and now I have to persuade the class of something.

So I'm going to persuade them to play Nationstates! (Truly, is there any more noble a cause? =p)

So what I need is a little bit of info from players to help bolster my support for why they should play the game. Either post to this thread, or telegram me, or email me at RepProdtheMod@gmail.com, with answers to any/all of these questions:

-How did you discover Nationstates?
-How long have you been playing Nationstates?
-Why do you play Nationstates? The issues? The UN? Roleplaying (war, storylines, or sports)? Maybe for the discussions in the General forum here?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Three years ago through, www.lugnet.com (a lego website).

-How long have you been playing Nationstates?

Three years, two on this current one.

-Why do you play Nationstates? The issues? The UN? Roleplaying (war, storylines, or sports)?

The general forum. Never have I been part of a forum that is able to make me very angry one moment, and then completely calm and laughing at a humor thread the next.

-How long have you been playing Nationstates?

About a year. I've been in the general forum for about six months, mostly lurking.

-Why do you play Nationstates? The issues? The UN? Roleplaying (war, storylines, or sports)? Maybe for the discussions in the General forum here?

Using regional boards and general forum for debates and keeping in touch with friends that have moved on. To be honest, I find the General forum to be more intellegent and more fun than all of the other forums I've visited.

How did you discover Nationstates?

A person who I somewhat knew gave me the link, and I was immediately hooked.

How long have you been playing Nationstates?

Since June 2003, so close to 2.5 years.

Why do you play Nationstates? The issues? The UN? Roleplaying (war, storylines, or sports)? Maybe for the discussions in the General forum here?

Off and on to join in debate or make other conversation, to keep up with world events and opinions (someone always posts something!), and, above all, to roleplay. As well, there are people I've met (many have long since left) who I've sort of made a pseudo-friendship with, so it's a way to interact with them.

My first nation was when the game first came out in the region of Relic

What keeps me playing?

I've run The West Pacific for a long time, and running a feeder region, along with the gameplay is awesome. The communities built are truly amazing.

Via a fellow player, and offline friend of many years, Jarridia.
I've been playing for almost 1.5 years.
The issues amuse me, and I like being in the UN, being a delegate and the like, but really, it's General that's kept me here, and will keep me here. I love General...It's quirky, it's thought provoking, and sometimes infuriating. I'd love to do RPing, had I the time and focus, but..alas, that's not the case for now.

A friend showed it to me, I signed up, and due to my compulsive nature, kept it up, while his died off soon after. ;)

-How long have you been playing Nationstates?
umm... little over 2 1/2 years now

-Why do you play Nationstates?
There are a large variety of reasons.
1. The issues. I love answering the issues a specific way for different nations and directing them towards certain situations or mindsets I dream up. Some are RL nations, some are just my personal weirdness.
2. The people. I spend a large portion of my NS time talking to people, on all messengers and offsite forums. We spam, debate politics and figure out new ways to play the game.
3. Jolt forums. There's a part of me that likes just to read technical, moderation, and gameplay. Plus, I like maintaining the information thread in general, possibly allowing people to know a bit more about each other. :)

I stay here for the General forum.

About 7 or 8 months now I think.

Started out as issues, then got into the UN. Now playing with the UN as well as regional government. And of course there's always some good argument that you can stick your nose in on the forums if you get bored.

-Through a friend of a friend. Yes, that's right, I discovered it in the real world.
-I've played on NS since sometime in october 2004 and probably been posting since nov 2004
-Initially, I played NS for the issues alone - I liked the idea of my own utopia. Then I discovered general and found that being a borderline spammer who occasionally posts relevant material was more fun. :p

General, baby. I'm fairly educated and I love to find out more info on current issues and General is a place to do that. Also, as debate goes, it's forced me to up my game or look like an idiot a lot. Almost every side of various issues is presented on NS. I find it be fairly biased in that you see complaints about the bias of the forums from all sides.

-How did you discover Nationstates?-
Looking up Nation Simulation stuff on Google, I think. Wanted to play as Leader of a Nation, not too complicated, and easy to do. What I found was something of both, and even easier to access.
-How long have you been playing Nationstates?
I want to say since December or November of 2002, but it may be 03. I was Nodea Rudav when I started. I will admit I have had some time off, thats why I have a low post count.
-Why do you play Nationstates? The issues? The UN? Roleplaying (war, storylines, or sports)? Maybe for the discussions in the General forum here?
The People I meet, the Role Plays I get into, and the Experience I get. The friends are great, I've known many for years now. The quality of the Role Playing is excellent, even better with experienced role players. Overall, I play because I want to, because I love Role Playing, mainly, and because I love to make friends from all over the world.

How did you discover Nationstates?

My roommate introduced me to it about 5 secs after he created a nation. He found a link to it on a DnD DM's site.

How long have you been playing Nationstates?

I don't like to think about that... Since Dec 21st, 2002.

Why do you play Nationstates? The issues? The UN? Roleplaying (war, storylines, or sports)? Maybe for the discussions in the General forum here?

The community we have built up in Wysteria. We are heavily into rping, but also just like to hang out. I enjoy arguing in the General forum as well.

Also, I am trapped here by the maps I made for our region. I spent so much time making the damn things I can't just abandon all that effort now.

First it were the issues, later I moved to an active region and became active in regional politics. I also started meddling in the whole defender/invader thingy and a tiny little bit in the related feeder politics. It's fun to work in an intelligence agency, so all those people dreaming about becoming James Bond should start to play Nationstates :D

"How did you discover nationstates?"

it was "website of the month" on the july 2003 pczone. I forgot about it for a long time.

"How long have you been playing nationstates?"
Since January 2004, when I remembered, and dug up the copy for the link. or was I reading a backissue and happened to see it? doesn't matter.

"why do you play nationstates?"

The people. First and foremost. I've a lot of friends here. Then the general forum. Well they both kinda go hand in hand. Then the RPs, which technically is what I first done. I then migrated over to general, and now only occasionally foray back to RPdom.

Through a friend, who had heard it from a friend of his, and so on...

-How long have you been playing Nationstates?
While I created this nation on February 25, 2005, my first nation was created sometime in early 2003. I don't remember exactly, and I kind of forgot about it and let it die (it was on a different computer, with a different e-mail, so I don't know if it's even traceable any more). My oldest surviving nation was created May 6, 2004.

-Why do you play Nationstates? The issues? The UN? Roleplaying (war, storylines, or sports)? Maybe for the discussions in the General forum here?
I started out with just issues and UN, but quickly became addicted to the General forum, discussions, debates, spam, etc. Recently, I've also been getting a lot more involved in RPing as well, especially war RPs.
