12 reasons against Gay Marriage

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, the internet, and Nationstates.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more children.

3. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal.

6. Gay marriage should be decided by the people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of minorities.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of sect of a one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one church in America.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license.

10. Children can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to cars or longer lifespans.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians.

I imagine it's safe to assume that this thread is entirely based on sarcasm. I went through the first three statements completely baffled.

Here's some more reasons:

13)Nobody really wants to have a good fashion sense imposed upon them.
14)Homosexuality is an airborn disease much like Ebola and can be contracted when viewing the color pink.
15)There are far too many happy people in the world.

My state just passed an amendment banning gay marriage yesterday. I’ve yet to hear one good reason why.

does it really matter THAT much? Quite frankly, I think getting the message out is more important than nitpicking over who originally wrote the damn thing.

Anyone with any experience here knows that very few posters here are clever enough to come up with something like that on their own.

But, for what it is worth, I always cite my source when the words I am quoting are not my own original words...example, I recently started a thread in here calleed "Religion And Politics" in which I made a point that an old fast-patter performance, first written in 1979 by Scott Beach, was actually a very appropriate thing for today, as it perfectly described the modern-day culture of American society...and the level of civility you find in General Forum.

And I cited straight off that I was quoting Scott Beach.

Anyway, I still think that getting the message out there is more important than worrying about crediting the original author. I mean, the guy didn't come out there and say "I wrote this!!" he just quoted it...but did not include his source, or credit the original author...which, technically, is not plagiarism...plagiarism would be defined as intentionally, knowingly, taking credit for writing that you, yourself, did not produce, and then attempting to publish same.

This is just a freaking Forum, for God's sake...does it really matter that much?

Not to mention posted about it here and in another thread, apart from the thread you started on it.

Ditto.
