Anger Management?

Everyone gets angry. Anger is a basic human emotion, which can either motivate us, or destroy us from the inside-out. It's when we hold anger inside that it can boil up and hurt us (ulcers anyone?).

You need to get all that bad karma out! So what do you do to deal with your anger?

I'm mostly a mellow guy, and it takes alot to make me angry. When I do, I have this urge to hit something. So, I'm hoping to get myself a punching bag.

I'm probably the same actually, It takes a hell of a lot to make me angry, I kinda bottle it up until it explodes, and the recipient kinda regrets it:)

I get very angry instantly if my head is hit by something, for some reason. But apart from that…

I swear at the computer I am typing on. I curse its name, I threaten it with Vlad Tepes-style punishments, I question its ancestry, I call it various synonyms for whore, I occasionally poke it, and I slam my hand down on the (thankfully strong) desk so hard that my wrist cuts.

Bottom line, I'm a violently angry bugger.

well, i am quick to the rise, so i had to learn to do some serious well-working anger management..

i did get the benefit of an early start as my inclintaion to get rather angry was noticed at kindergarten already, so i got into this anger management course thingy where we were put into a room with the floor literally covered in old newspapers and we'd be encouraged to rip those apart as furiously as we could, twist them, make 'em inot balls, rip up some more..you can work up quite a rage doing that, you know :D

so anyhow, ye, i practise the "let it out" principle as well. though i make sure to not hurt anybody's feelings by it, i usually make inanimite things such as stupid posters (no pun intended, i'm referring to the things you put on the wall), cushions, or flowers (now pease don't give me any "flowers have feelings too" shit, please).
what i do is yell at them at the very top of my lungs for as long as i can possibly keep it up without suffocating. it is very very liberating while not hurting anyone, especially not yourself (as punching/hitting stuff tends to, speaking from experience).
oh you don't know how good it feels to keep screaming at this dumb poster with a cutsey bear waering a pink necktie (the one your flatmate put up in the bathroom), telling it how unmeasurable ugly it is and how it is to blame for any evil on this earth for ten minutes in a row..try it, you'll like it.

(just make sure you really are alone. really alone. don't assume. really do check every room. 'cause there's nothing less liberating than you screaming at the cutsey bear with your flatmate (who is supposed to be out) hearing you in the adjacent room and coming over to ask whether something's wrong. especially afte rincluding said flatmate's name in the list of things that are unmeasurably ugly and to blame for the evil of this world.)

That's a good one. It's secured at both ends so it won't swing around too much when you're working out. Remember to use bag gloves. Bloody knuckles make you look like a weirdo.

If I am home and angry with someone I don't want to talk to, I write a really mean song about them and then rip it up in little peices.

If I am angry with my kids I talk to my kids, if I am angry with my husband, I talk to my husband

If I get angry driving, I yell really mean yet kinda silly things, to help me remember that I am silly for getting mad at other drivers

eg "I hope your tail light burns out and you get a ticket!!!!!!!!!!"

I don't really get very angry these days. I don't care enough about most things to actually let them bother me. But going to the gym is a good way of relieving tension, as well as being constructive.

I handle anger in a very silly fashion. First I attempt to bottle it up inside, despite the fact that the method never worked for me.

Then I let it out regardless, because the anger I feel is often too much. Usually I vent at a friend (whom I ask ahead of time if they would mind listening) or if it's mixed with sorrow, I cry.

Whatever I do, when I get angry, I stay away from forums like this, as whatever little ego I have is already shot to shit. XD

I get angry alot. I've failed anger management before, and I'm taking it again now. When I get angry, I get violent, and I start hitting people.

Basketball is a very good anger management tool for alot of people. You can get all your energy out on the court. Probably improve your game a bit. Plus its great exercise.

Already have a punching bag. MArtial arts is a pretty good outlet as well, though I imagine Boxing is even better.

...I better not mention how I deal with my temper though.

I very rarely get angry. In situtations where I should be angry, I'm scared instead. Well, not scared. I feel more cautious and wary instead..

When I do get angry, it's usually for a very brief section of time. And I mean very brief. A couple of seconds at the most. After that I can usually sort things out in my head. Emotions seem to have very little influence in my decision making process.

I'm a venter. OMFG, you have no idea how I can vent. I'd get banned right off this forum if I vented about things here. Probably not even for full-on venting, but just for the way I talk/rant naturally. Whew! Like opening up the furnace door. But I never do it AT people I'm angry with. Face to face, I usually try to reason my way out of a fight, but later, when I'm venting to friends -- then I can just let go. It's because you don't win arguments by telling people to their faces that you think they are frigging idiots who couldn't wipe their own asses without instructions and help. If I didn't have friends and family who would listen to me vent, I couldn't hold down a job.
