War in General

War by definition is armed conflict with another enemy, which seems not nearly as futile as it is. I believe war in general is a flawed concept who's outcome is almost never identical to the intended one. In the Vietnam War, for example, instead of ridding Vietnam of communists, it only ended up in the casualties of thousands of Vietnamese civilians and American soldiers alike. If war is ever desired, I believe at least eighty percent of the members of the United Nations need to agree on it, and if there is an agreement, there need be a formal Declaration of War, written by various members of the United Nations.

I first thought this said "War in NS general"

As for your plan, it wouldn't work. You'd never get the 80%, and anyway, aggressor countrys rarely show any respect for the International Communities opinion of anything.

And what means of enforcement would you propose? The UN as it stands has no means of enforcing such a policy, even if it were desirable.

As mentioned earlier. It wouldn't work. Wars tend to be just fought due to their nature. Only the size and scope can be managable by other nations and people avoiding participation.

anyone ever watch Robotech or SDF Macross? Even Evangelion shows how the UN should be. Though, I think we'd actually need a Global Civil War-type thing to happen to get there, but...stil. Posters w/ the words, "I want YOU, for the UN SPACY!"

What if you plan on invading a country, we'll call it.....Isaq. Anyways, you plan to invade pre-emptively, because you believe them to be a threat, and they are violating international law, and have broken a ceasefire arrangement.

You go to the world body, we'll call it....The YN. They turn you down because key nations are actually making a shitload of money from Isaq.

What do you do then?

Anime isn't really the best place to find good solid political ideas. And a "Global Civil War-type thing"? That's just plain huh?

You don't do anything, because its all actually just a conspiracy. What you really do is wonder why the nation who wants to invade, who is getting the most contracts out of the country, both currently from oil and after from contracts, wants to go in.

Its idiotic. Everybody believes that their side is good with intention, and the other is corrupt and evil.
