Emo or Tortured Artist?

Which are you?

Emo: Dark clothes, classic emo-bang, heavy eye makeup, fan of razorblades, shameful lack of any poetic talent but tendancy to write anyways, likes contemporary "emo" bands, hates the world.

Tortured Artist: Messy clothes and hair, makeup is subtle/non-existent, has talent and potential as writer/musician/painter, etc, misunderstood, intelligent, enjoys life, but has occasional, brief mental images of death and gore, likes a variety of music, but owns at least one classical OR folk CD.

I'm sure that will work.

A combination of the two. I include all the qualities that apply to me... (I have a very large classical library, actually. Everyone seems to think I'm weird because of it.)

I'm neither, rather I am an eternal optimist of an upright and sunny disposition who feels nothing but boundless compassion and love for his fellow man, so CRANK OFF!
Note ^^^ is Sarcasm and not to be taken seriously. Just in case you were about to get your panties in a bunch.

Emo? Bwhahahahahahaha! Oh man...

And anyone who lists their occupation as an "artist" isn't an artist.

So you're one of those. Contrary to cynical belief, one is actually capable of stating that one is something without not being it. EG: A doctor will state that he is an MD. Does that make him any less a doctor than if he lied and said he was a teacher?

By my logic, yes it would.

Perhaps there is a slight flaw in your logic.

They can be. Heck, they could be an artist and call themselves an accountant (of God/Allah/Yahweh/Jesus/the gods/Max/Zeus/Myrth/Firefury Amahira), or a therapist (for the soul), or whatever....

Then again, there are really no true artists around anymore.

(I'm neither, btw. Too cynical, bitter, angry, etc.)

Neo Kervoskia and logic do not work in the same sentence. :p

But is it truly art if you consider it work?

Work doesn't have to be tedious or difficult. There can be passion in work, and that's what makes it an art.

Yeah, you're right, but I'd still laugh if someone said "I'm a tortured artist" to me. Not to be cruel, just because it'd be funny.

It can be. Music is my work. It is also my art, and often contains elements of both simoultaneously. The feelings behind it, and in it, make it art. As does doing it for those feelings. And getting paid for it is nice bonus to.

The tortured part was intended to be a joke.

Shit, I didn't see that.

Edit: What if you see art as work, occupation wise, but enjoy it?

And getting paid for it is a bonus, it is my dream to make my art my work for the rest of my life. Nothing could be cooler than getting paid to do what I love to do, getting paid for my art (because then I really never have to "work" even though I'm working)

Good good. As opposed to bad good, which was banned by the oxymoronic gibberish act of '97

Emo. Bah, poor whiners.

Tortured Artist is a good start. Locked into Chain gangs is preferable, however.
