It occured to me a few minutes ago that playing games for money kicks ass and NS undoubtedly has to have some resident gaming freaks. Jolt's all about gaming, and we've been here for a while without really taking advantage of that. There has to be a good amount of us out there that are ridiculously talented at certain games.

I'm really, really good at Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. I have a friend that's just about as good as I am [and better at a number of things, but not actual combat :p ], and we're looking for a third man [woman?] so we can compete in the first Winter Assault tournament I can find.

I also have begun [again] regularly playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. I'm not bad, as I have oodles of experience with the game old RtCW, same as I did with Dawn of War], but I'm not the greatest. I'm hoping I can get together a team for that one too, so if you've got some time to kill, a good connection, and [hopefully] a microphone you can download Enemy Territory [it's free!] at various sites that I won't link too because I'm too lazy.

So what about everyone else? Got any games you're really good at? What's in the CD Drive at the moment?

Um, I've got a great betting strategy for craps. I guess that doesn't count.

I thought I had a great betting strategy for craps, but it turns out I was wrong.

I use the pass line, use free odds when I can, play the field, and the 6 and 8. I also cover the 4, 5, 8, and 10 unless the throw is on one of those numbers, then I skip it and just get paid on the pass line. It leaves alot of money out there for when someone sevens out, but it seems to grind out small ammounts of profit over time. Since I'm a patient gambler I've won more than I've lost doing that.

I often find one of my bets winning while another loses, but that minimizes my losses and often lets me grind out money in the long run.

I've had several "long run" strategies - they look good on paper, and in practice.

But as soon as there is money on the line, I slowly hemorrhage money.

That's why it's called gambling I guess. One night I just couldn't stop shooting 4s. The people around me were getting rich. I decided to put a stack of chips on the 4 and immediately sevened out. Such is life.

I'm spectating in ET, still. There's such pressure when you have to make those first sucky steps in public. :(

I do have a microphone, though, so I guess I could be a medic and, umm, cheer?

Well truth be told if you're not a fantastic shot you can always focus [at first] on reviving and keeping the people around you alive as long as possible, since medics don't generally start with very much ammo anyway. They also regenerate health and have a health bonus, so they're remarkably harder to kill. If I'm not playing as a medic and I come up against one in a toe to toe fight I always groan a little bit.

I'm really good at 1.5 - but my Hl2 Disk 2 got scratched.. so I'll be down for a while.

I'm very good at War monger and Culture Civ3 games.

Out of curiousity, just what is the latest iteration of Counterstrike? I've never played it but have heard that I must.

Heres the product link. (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?cookie%5Ftest=1&product%5Fid=645118)

It comes with Half-Life 2 - in the disks [ all 4 of them.. damnit ]. Its called Counter-Strike Source. I prefer Battlefield [ haven't played BF2 yet though] since you get classes and vehicles. Counter-strike was my first - good - first person shooter [ doom and heretic dont qualify - socom wasnt the best ] . Its a very fun - short round - multiplayer. I recommend it - very time consuming.[ me and my neighbor set holiday weeks aside to play without sleep weeks-straight.]
