I really like the Talking Heads, but I was wondering if people younger than me are even aware of what a great band they were, so here's a poll. Enjoy.

I voted yes, my husband likes them so I have to listen to them sometimes, the lyrics are okay but they style of music just isn't my type. ;)

I am a pick eclectic, mostly I like punk though. He is an eclectic in the truest sense though, he can listen to Talking Heads, Weird Al, Green Day, the Ramones, Phantom of the Opera, and barbershop quartets in one sitting and not see how all that conflicts, he just really likes music, I am getting better being around him though, not so much of a purest. I actually moderately like They might be giants now. ;)

Cool. You haven't named a band, showtune or genere of music that I don't like.

I really can't say if I ever listened to them.. Could you perhaps name a few songs I would be likely to have heard if I ever listened to them?

Psycho Killer would be the most famous.

Well, it's either a case of great minds thinking alike or idiots often agree.

Psycho Killer always made me think...was it about a killer who was insane, or a person who killed psychos? I must have asked my mom that question a thousand times...

Really? I always assumed that it was about a killer who was insane. Like a serial killer or something.

Yes, it seems obvious now, but when I was a wee young thing, I had my doubts:) Then again, I'm the one who thought that Frank Zappa was my uncle, and my godmother had a camera that could photograph thoughts.

Yeah, ok, but I think PK was the most likely one to have heard if you haven't heard much TH. It's not my favourite, by any means.

Frank Zappa was your uncle? That's odd.

Burning Down the House was pretty popular. Also And She Was.

No, but my father's habit of referring to Frank Zappa as "Uncle Frank" sure confused me! I was really upset that he never came for Christmas, until it was all finally explained to me.

You're lucky. My pop was into the beatles,Neil Diamond, opera and classical music. My mom only liked Elvis.

Picked up a copy of 77 on vinyl last week and am just now sitting down to listen to it. Hmmm. Its good to hear the nice production on the low-end shine through, unlike the knackered old tape I had of the LP.

For me the problem with The Talking Heads is the David Byrne always strikes me as a pretentious twat - I'm much happier with them when I forget that he was in them.

yeah, I get that with a lot of bands, I have to focus on the music and not the people. ;)

How about pushing the envelope and asking if people are aware of the bands peripherally related to The Talking Heads - The Tom-Tom Club and The Modern Lovers?*
