Nahhh. He has the right to say all those things, courtesy of all the dead and wounded US soldiers who bought him that right. To deny him the right to say what he wants would also deny their sacrifice, and that's something I will never do.

After reading Eutrusca's post, my Spider sense is going off louder than a Geiger counter at Trenoble.

Crook is old news. He looked like a complete dork on TV.
He also tried to fake his own death, claiming that he had been killed by angry soldiers.
He was never assaulted or killed. And he had to admit it later.
Sorry, he just hates soldiers and police - and the reason is probably because he did enlist in the Army, but was too much of a wuss to make it through basic training, and got out on a medical.

He has the right to say whatever he wants, because of the brave men and woman who served and serve.
But they also assurred that I'm alive and safe, and able to punch him right in the fucking mouth if I ever see him. SEE? It all balances out! :D

This episode will haunt him for the rest of his life, and that's more than sufficient "punishment" for saying and doing things he should have known better than to say and do.

Freedom of speech for which so many have died...
Or just an excuse for the military to bitch like the Jews when people don't like them.

I never said I LIKE what he's saying, only that he has the absolute right to say it. Hey ... I fought for SOMEthing in Vietnam, and I choose to believe that it was my right to say pretty much what I want to say. To deny that same right to others, whether I like what they say or not, would be tatamount to saying that I don't deserve that right either. Kapisch? :)

The right to "bitch" about virtually anything and everything is a basic right of people in the military too. Heh!

Hey ... I know that not everyone likes the military. I personally believe the military is a necessary evil. If we stifle voices raised in opposition to something, including the military, we stand in danger of falling into a kind of "group-think" which could be highly hazardous to our health and well-being. Dissent is a necessary activity in any democracy.

No need for the sarcasm. But any time any one group gets a thread it isn't challenged on they quickly set to wanking each other off about their superior viepoint.

yep! Everyone has freedom of speech (barring yelling 'Fire' in a crowded theatre...) and I hate it whenever anyone tries to attack it. I agree with J.S.Mill on that point at least...
