Death row inmate put on suicide watch: (http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/11/07/inmate.escapes/index.html)
"He was placed alone in a cell on an escape and suicide watch, she said. Chadwick described Thompson as "mild-mannered" and compliant. 'So far, he has been no problem.' "
Wouldn't allowing him to commit suicide just save the state a bunch of money?
What have you seen that is ironic today?

I found it odd that the song "Ironic" contains mostly examples of bad luck and poetic justic rather than irony. You'd expect a song called "Ironic" to be about ironic things wouldn't you. Which is ironic in it's own way.
What have you seen that is ironic today?Me.

Sometimes deadly? Pfft. You, my friend, are always deadly. Ok, almost always. At least every Tuesday, between the hours of four and six in the afternoon.

I blame it on my ineffective signature. However it will be brightened up nicely with the above quote. Hopefully then I can expand my deadliness onto Friday at five for half an hour and dead-time on Sunday.

You know what else would save money... no trials! I'd be willing to point at people and you could just execute them on the spot.
Seriously though, I expect some irony in threads with the irony. Is that too much to ask...?

It's somewhat ironic that there isn't, don't ya think.

Assuming he does get put to death, and the state he is in executes its' inmates by lethal injection, then I'll bet the inmate in question will find it ironic that they will first sterilize the very needle they fatally inject him with. It's a law in most, if not in all states that execute its' death row inmates, by lethal injection to do so. Why to do otherwise would be barbaric!

Of course! You wouldn't want bacteria to infect the corpse and cause it to rot, would you? That would be simply unnatural!

Not to mention smelly. Eeewwww...
Yet another reason to go against the death sentence- it makes spending resources to watch and heal them look even more stupid if they're just going to die anyway.

I was about to say it is ironic that the word irony is mentioned so much in a thread where the starting post is not ironic, but that would make me a hypocrite and possibly be ironic*....

Well, I think the needles come sterile. It's not like they specifically make needles for lethal injection.
Secondly, if you are going to commit murder, do heroin for a while to scar up your veins and then go to Kentucky to kill someone. They have decided there at administering a lethal injection through the jugular for lack of other options amounts to cruel and unusual punishment and have disallowed it.

Yes, then you'll merely be a heroin junkie in jail for the rest of your natural life (Or the good part anyway)
