My girlfriend is in the hospital for surgery, I cant spend my entire time at the hospital unfortunately. The house is so empty with just me and its depressing.

I dont know if I want to buy the Harry Potter series to keep me light hearted. Or some game perhaps? I like coming to the NS, but even thats not enough.

Why not find some other people? Failing that, go ahead and get Hazza Pozzer and/or game(s).

Snr.Tequila is always good company.

You would not even know what day is when if your friend Snr.Tequila is around.

If you are really game ... invite Jim, Jack and Johny too!

Join a fast-paced war RP or debate with some people who are online right now. You can really forget the time while doing that. :)

Failing that, try playing video or computer games, reading a good book, listening to music, watching TV, or blowing stuff up. When I'm bored or lonely I just sit on my rooftop launching an RPG at taxis on the street below or firing nuclear missiles at random buildings. It really soothes the nerves and it's fun to watch all the people trying to flee while the building crumbles. Then there are always the tungsten godrods.... ;)

I used to have a pure evil cat (started off as a very fluffy pure evil kitten)... excellent company!
But a girlfriend fresh out of hospital, and a pure evil kitten probably won't be the best match in a few days time?

Grab a friend and go for a drink perhaps.....anything that involves having friends about; or something, anything, that you know you can lose yourself in for hours at a time? :)

Personally, I prefer mud, raspberry Jell-O, or beer, but whatever floats your boat. :)

one good way to waste time/create a distraction is try to clean up your computer and all those little things you saved forever and a half ago. When I do that I get distracted by every other game and projects and spend hours before I get to my original goal.

Mud is great. Jello is hard to find in large enough vats. ANd most people object to you swimming in their beer should you find a large enough vat.

damn.. that's just reminded me of someone i was trying to forget! ;)

There's always the idea of starting to think what things you can do for your girlfriend when she comes out, to make her smile and feel glad to be home?
Also, you've got time at the mo' to get all those little bits and bobs done that you've been meaning to get round to, so you've got all the time in the world for her when she's back?

I know, the primary problem with Jello is that the maximum number of packages they're willing to sell at a time is 342... :(

I know where you can get it in industrail sized packets. We'd use half a pac to make dessert for 30-40 people. Good times. I love living in the wilderness with 30 other people as crazy as me.

I suggest that you come up with something really productive, like writing a biography on Louis Epolitto (I think he was like a dirty cop, or something) or refinishing the garage.
You'd be amazed how many entertaining and time consuming things suddenly appear in your life when you have something else to do. For example, I've been building a boat for 5 years, so far the only boat building that I have managed to fit in my busy schedule of slacking of and procrastination is making a paddle and a diagram.

Maybe you can just keep the paddle and start your own fraternity instead. :D

Or like learning the trumpet?

I have two, I've had them for almost two years. I know a C major scale for two octaves. And nothing else.

To easy, the boat is better because it is insanely difficult (as I know absolutely nothing about boats) yet seems possible (after all, the first guy to build a boat couldn't have known anything about boats, could he?) and practical (should I ever lose my mind and want to row to Britain, the tool would be at hand) enough that I can perdiodically work on it.
Right now, though, I am really on the ball as far as slacking off goes. Not only am I not building a boat, but I am also not reading Chapter 13 of some book or other for tommorows lecture, I'm not writing an essay on some crappy short story, and I'm not studying my German vocabulary. Somehow I am also finding time to not make any sense and not write a novel, as well.

Exactly, and the best part is if you fail at the procrastination, you've a good chance at succeeding at the trumpet. Its a win-win, you planned to fail anyway, so doing so is no problem, but if you succeed that is just as good a result.

Not write a novel eh? Sounds like quite not to do. NaNoWriMo, or just for the hell of it?

Yeah, NaNoWriMo. I'm really behind (by about 6,000 words as of midnight to night), but I probably won't start into really writing until around Thanksgiving break anyway. I love nothing better then crashing and burning in the presence of impending deadlines.

Good luck with that, I have a bunch of people in my apartment builing who are trying it. Seems tough. I refused to join.

Instead I'm (in theory) writing a symphony to give the girls support:headbang:

Perfect, you're already not learning an insturment and not producing a symphony. Now all you need is to start not making a guitar and you'll have the musical trifecta of procrastination.

I've actually desingned my guitar. I'm just waiting for the money to buy the wood and extra labor from someone more talented than I (who also happens to be a freind of mine and own the shop). That one will actually happen once I can scrounge up the resources. (Bass Guitar actually)

Try lowering your standards.

The secret to happiness is low standards.

[Edit] Or just go to some flash game website. That's always good.

[Edit 2] I can't help but feel those statements are somehow related...
