Dr. Burns or Dr. Winchester?

I'm not giving you a poll, because I want to hear your opinions explained.
My own opinion:
Dr. Burns is a jackass, but I love him anyway. He is very human and is easy to sympathize with in a lot of episodes, like "The Sniper" (Season Two) where he tries to be a hero but chokes. When Dr. Pierce finds him, Burns confides in him, explaining that he lost his nerve because it took him a lot longer to get through medical school, and he feels he has too much to lose. Moments like these make me feel very close to the character. Not only that, but some of his lines are really hilarious.
Dr. Winchester is just a rich prick with no real redeeming values except for his surgical skill. :(

What show is that one? St. Elsewhere or Dr. Kildare or something? THose medical shows all seem more or less the same to me.. :(
Edit: That said, Dr. Kildare gets my vote..

The TV version with Alan Alda was like a Boy Scout campout compared to the movie. All of the personalities on that awful show were so diluted and distorted that they can't even be discussed.
Go rent the movie and you'll have a whole new appreciation of MASH.

Hm.. I've seen the movie, but not the show.. I guess Alan Alda's kinda funny, in an annoying way... and that guy who thought he was a homo and decided to kill himself, so the other doctors all get him a prostitute or convince a WAC to sleep with him or something, to turn him straight again, after doing a mock funeral for him.. and then the guy who played Harold in "Harold and Maude" sees him in the casket and is all like "what a waste of his education" or something.. that was kinda funny.
Edit: Eliot Gould.. that's who that was.. I generally don't like him, but he was funny then.

Dr. Winchester, he's so arrogant it's entertaining.

I own the movie :P
It's kind of hard to compare the movie Burns with the show Winchester, though, so I just use the show Burns and the show Winchester.
Think before you post, and try not to be arrogant for no good reason.

That was funny. I kinda liked the part where Frank and Hotlips were going at it, only to belatedly realize they were being broadcast to the camp. "Is that the Battling Bickersons?".

Yeah, the movie was cool.. the only guy who sucked (as ususal) was Donald Sutherland. That guy's a whiney bitch in every way possible, and never funny. Except when he broke down in tears talking about how much he hates GWB when he was interviewed in England.. that made me laugh, I'll give him that. What a loon. Alda's much less of a commie than Sutherland, so I'll bet he was the better Hawkeye.. :p

You pay your money and you take your chances. There never was a Winchester in the version of MASH that I like. There was a guy named Duke ...Can't remember. Then there was Spearchucker Jones.
But Robert Duvall was a far better Frank Burns than the TV one.

I prefer Linville — much more obnoxious :)

i much prefer david ogden steirs to larry linville.
dr burns was way too snivelling for my taste. he was played as too much of a weasel to ring true to me.
if it were real life. i would like frank burns way better than dr winchester. i have a great dislike for rich people who think that their money and privelege makes them better than other people. frank is in korea doing a job that is way past his personal skills. when he went back to ..... indiana... he would have been a better dr than when he left and would have ended up a pillar of his community
