Went to see "Jarhead" last night.

My advice: save your money. The film is funny in places, but fundamentally flawed. The story line is based on Marines who never even make it to the battle, spend most of their time fretting about their girls back home, trying to figure a way to get drunk in a "dry" Muslim nation, or just going semi-crazy from lack of anything to do.

I read the early reviews, and I wondered how many "Gung ho" guys are going to see the previews, think "This looks like a great war movie", and come back disappointed. They are definitely not accurately portraying the movie in the previews, just so they can get people like Eutrusca to go see it.

It is based on the novel by an ex-marine though.

Heh! Well, it was funny at times, and accurate in most details, but portrayed the Marines as very unprofessional. I mean, if you've gone through all the training to become a highly-disciplined Marine Sniper, you're not going to threaten assault and battery on a superior officer because he changes your mission.

I haven't seen the movie, I just seen the trailers, but I think it's good. I want to see it, no matter who says I shouldn't, but there is a good chance I can't. Because I am only twelve years old, and my mom won't want me to see it, even if I don't give a shit about it's explicit content.

The movie would not enlighten you, nor would it give you any idea at all what most Marines are like, what they do, and how they act.

I believe we have seen that our armed forces can be very unprofessional when not fighting. However, I think you are correct about threatening the superior officer, that was probably added to dramatize it.

EDIT:

It was written by a marine who served in Desert Storm.

Yo, Vittos! S'up? :)

LOTS of things were added to dramatize it; enough to make it inaccurate and misleading, IMHO.

I have moved to northern Georgia to do real estate. I am that much closer to tracking you down to "resolve" some issues we had in the past.:p

You are still in North Carolina, correct?

Well, it is a movie.

Yup! Still here in good ole NC. Lil place called Kernersville, right between Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Look me up ... I'll buy. :D
