lolol - er, I mean

It turns out this guy got out of a Houston, TX maximum security prison in plain clothes and with a fake I.D. He was on Death Row for the murder of two other people who did some stuff.

Apparently, he made a hitlist in jail which included the jurors and relatives of his victims. There's a large sum of money being offered as a reward.

"Some guy" LOL

Well, you can't count on prison guards to be intelligent, it seems.

What, I couldn't remember his name.

There's a manhunt going on up and down the "Gulf Coast", which is pretty funny considering that he probably fled to Mexico.

I don't even understand how he got out. So he went into the lawyer meeting room, I assume he was escorted there being on death row and all. Then, he somehow managed to get some civies and a fake ID and fooled the guards into letting him out. What the hell? Did he get teleported into the room with the death row inmate and the death row guy was abducted by aliens or something? Now we know where to get convicted of a crime: Texas. The guards are idiots.

That is funny. Thats why Bush is as stupid as he is. The Texas in him, or in his butt.

For someone stupid, he managed to get elected President twice. I guess that makes him smarter than his opponents.

Huh... I never realized it was the opponents who elect a president... :p

Wow, way to make a nonsensical pseudo-political statement and imply gay sex in a way that has no relevancy to either topic.

You would think that the smartest opponent would run the smartest and most effective campaign. And win.

Obviously, this is either not the case, or Bush is smarter than his opponents.

It is this kind of on the ball, hard hitting reporting that may some day save the world of news from the darkness of making sense.
You sir are a visionairy reporter the lieks of which this world may never see again.

Or smarter than the majority of the US, which is easier to accept.

No, it stands to reason that the smarter candidate with the smarter election strategy (which may be his aides' strategy) will win - and this would be more true if the electorate is stupid - because he would be able to take advantage of that more effectively.

One thing you should give Rove, even if you hate him, is that he's a smart strategist (except where it comes to leaking stuff).

Smarter at achieving wealth, fame, and more economic success, then yes.

One might then consider what winning the Presidency actually proves.

Whoever wins may be considered the smartest person at gaining power.

You're on to something.

Let's look at the Bush and Kerry election, and compare the following:

Military Service
Kerry would have had the point for this, but Swift Boat sells and tells. So I score this one a wash - score still 0 - 0.
Family
Son of former President of very political family gets the nod here. Being married to a billionaire wife doesn't count as "family". Score now Bush 1 - Kerry 0
Uni/College
Yale University, neither had exceptional grades. This one is a wash. Score still Bush 1 - Kerry 0.
Fraternity
Skull and Bones. And no, we don't know depravities either of them committed in order to get through pledging. Score still Bush - 1 Kerry - 0
Sex Appeal
Riiiight. You would have to look like Bush's mom in order to think either of these guys has any chance in the sack with anyone really hot.

So I figure that explains the election - and the electoral process.

Paris Hilton is a different case altogether. Today, America values notoriety more than almost anything else; being born rich made her famous, and when you're rich and famous, you don't have to be smart.

And for what it's worth: crap happens. There are stupid prison guards in Texas, yes. There are stupid prison guards everywhere. It's hardly proof that the whole state's gone round the twist, let alone everybody in that state.

I'm from Illinois, and Illinois is more commonly known as "the land of the voting dead." There have been thousands of cases where votes cast in local elections, all usually in favor of one party or politician (*cough* Mayor Daley *cough*), turn out to have been cast by people who were dead for several years prior to the actual election. Does that mean all Illinoisians are fraudulent, dishonest, unscrupulous, and willing to do anything for profit? Not necessarily. Lord knows I am, but remember kiddies, generalizations hurt people!

I'd be more worried about a double murderer with resources on the lam.

I add this to my tome of threads that show how everything becomes a argument over Bush, God, or Sex. This one did it awful quick though.

She was born wealthy, she did not achieve it.

Nor indeed by all accounts did she achieve fame through any willfull action of her own.

It might not be accurate to say that Bush's decisions lead to the people who crafted the strategies which led to his reelection. He may be an unwitting means to his handlers ends.
