What games are you obsessed with at the moment?

I'm sure most of you have been enjoying Civ 4 and AoE 3, but other than that what games are you playing?

I beat F.E.A.R. Thursday night, and have been alternating my game playing between leveling up my Portugese home city in AoE, and Shadow of the Colossus.

NationStates. Seriously though, I haven't played anything else since I became bored with SimCity4 sometime in June or July (SimCity3 was much more fun).

It's been released? I've been playing FM 2005 for months (undefeated for four seasons with Milan :D ), but '06 is released? *Scurries off to find store*

Mostly Civ 4, XIII and Hearts of Iron 2. Took me a while to get Civ 4 working, because I had constant crashes to desktop on huge maps. Fixed that with installing 4.12 Catalyst drivers.

I wasn't that impressed by F.E.A.R. - I expected more from Monolith.

Ratchet and Clank 3. It's a very nice and fun platformer that was on sale. Doesn't require that I spend all that much time on it, as I just don't have it.

Really? I thought at parts it was better than Half-Life two. The story, gameplay, and ending were incredible. I wish it was a bit longer though...

'3 was much more fun, i agree.

i've become disillusioned with games ever since i got so bored with rome total war, halo 2 and the sims 2 all within about a month of each other. games have lost their appeal to me now :(

last one i bought was burnout revenge and i've only played that for about 6 or 7 hours so far

Actually, my favorite game is chess. I play occasionally in tournaments and, more recently, on several internet sites. It's been my favorite game for over 40 years.

Well, Will Wright didn't have anything to do with Sims 2 or Sim City 4. SC4 seemed more like a step backward than forward, but I liked Sims 2 better than Sims 1.

I'm really looking forward to Spore. :)

Thats because you've been playing shitty games! (With the exception of The Sims 2)

For the absolute best edge of your seat RTS experience try Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. As far as FPS's go try F.E.A.R. or Half Life 2. Both are much much better than Halo 2 and much more exciting. (and FPS's are meant to be played with a keyboard and mouse not a gamepad damnit!)

And last of all, if you have a PS2 or a Gamecube pick up Resident Evil 4. If you can get the Gamecube version. It looks better and runs smoother than the PS2.

hmm thanks for the advice but i got half life 2 out of desperation (not having had it before the halo2/rome thingg) and found i got bored of that, too. same with dawn of war. come to think of it, i haven't finished either of those two... oh and i got bored with doom 3 as well
and alas, i only have xbox and pc (obviously), so no resident evil 4 for me.

clinical depression can prevent seratonin being released in the brain, so one literally feels no pleasure. hence the fun i used to have playing these sorts of games is no more :(

however games where i get to use my imagination and creativity are still fun - like the sims 2 (i was disappointed largely because it was the same as the original just with better graphics and less fun things to do), the movies (upcoming), and spore (out sometime next year)
oh and simcity, but '4 was actually a boring game :headbang:

I think they fell into the trap of thinking graphics were more important than gameplay. Plus the algorithms still have bugs - but whereas SimCity 3's 'Great Depression' bug was easy to understand (your city population would suddenly collapse if the workforce size dropped below 50% of the population - something that inevitably happens as cities become old), SimCity 4 has some much stranger bugs (one of my metropolises was doing very well when the population suddenly collapsed, and I can't work out why).

I actually liked Sim City 4. If you get the proper plugins (extra buildings, etc.) it can be very very enjoyable. I especially liked having the MARTA trains in my city. :)

Dawn of War, StarCraft, might get back into Continuum.

Well Civ4 I have played a couple times now. A interesting game.

We play Halo2 online at the bar on the bigscreen. We had it limited to closed hours amongst friends and workers. But we did do it once during bar hours. Was alot of fun with drunken patrons. Thinking about setting a night for it.
