The story-line is particularly intriguing.

In an emergency vote, the European Union deploys "peace keepers" in the greater DC area to secure international interests.
Haha. That's an interesting touch.

Yeah. It's nice when a game has a compelling story.

I've read a report in a videogames magazine... And the web page doesn't reveal the big surprise...
I'm expecting to catch the spanish version... :mp5:

Well, it's from PopTop, makers of the Tropico series, which are among my all-time favorite games. That's promising. I might check this out.
EDIT: Although, looking at the faction map, their division of the country is rather... improbable. (Yes, I know, it's just a game. Still, "Pacifica" extending into the middle of the country?)
:p

It was OK. IMHO Age of Empires 3, Dawn of War: Winter Assault, Hearts of Iron II, and Civilization 4 blew this out of the water. However it wins for such a cool premise/story-line.

I just saw "(C) 2005 Take Two" and stopped reading. And wondering if it was going to be a good or bad game. Those guys are capable of the best.

Hearts of Iron II is an excess. Knowing who was the Defense Minister of Siam in 1936 or playing the WWII with Guatemala exceeds what I ask to a videogame, although I would work deeper in some affaires like the returning of France and the end of Vichy's France after defeating Germany (IMO the weakest point in the game).

You hear about the mod thats based off of Harry Turtledove's books? The ones where the south won the civil war and when it carried over to WWII it was the USA & Germany vs. CSA & Great Britain.
Looks very interesting. I don't know if its been released yet but if it is I'll probably spend more time on that than the original game.

A number of NS Roleplayers have already bought this game, and I intend to get it as well. It will be glorious to pacify the United States using European Union forces, and to nuke the Republic of Texas. I do hope the New Englanders will cooperate in this glorious cause.
Usually I hate the silly smilies, but can I use the MP5 smily just this once? Thank you.

Game on!

I've read reviews saying that the gameplay was somewhat lackluster, but... Well, screw it. California triumphant! :D

Says nothing about the war dragging the rest of the world into total economic ruin, which it would.

I noticed it mentioned that under the description for the EU faction.

Typical Europeans. As usual, ignoring international law when it suits them.

Eh.. none of the factions look too appealing.. I guess I'd play Great Plains, but I dunno..
Also, is that the Lincoln Memorial burning? I guess solid marble is known to go up in flames like that.. :p

New England Alliance needs to reclaim the Mid-atlantic from the filthy Europeans.
What's this about the northern blue states being ultra-conservative?
How the hell did Michigan get shoe-horned with the yokels out in the mid-west? :D

maybe they invaded Michigan. It hinted at that for California in the description of the Pacific North

Eh. It looks turned based, which I loathe, and the storyline, while amusing, doesn't seem too interesting for me. If there were a demo, I'd at least try it, though.

EVERYBODY ignores International Law when it suits them, which is why International Law is completely worthless, save the slight increase in reputation when you do choose to follow it.
The premise seems a little too far fetched for me to accept. The sucession of the US leadership is designed to overcome such a catastrophic event. And where is the military in all of this? Like it just divided itself between the States? Wouldn't happen. There'd be martial law, and there'd be no secession or factionalization.

The idea is that the entire US leadership was annihilated when Washington went up (which is really, really unlikely, but there you go). As for the factionalization... Well, remember, the army is composed of Americans, many of whome feel great loyalty to their own state. At the beginning of the Civil War, Robert E. Lee chose to fight for the South because he couldn't stand to fight against his native Virginia; why wouldn't modern army personnel, in a world where the Union is viewed with great distrust, do the same?
Anyway, aye, the story is far-fetched, but that's the fun part!

No thanks, not for me. Saw it at the store the other day and did not find it appealing enough to spend my money on. I am still waiting for Heroes of Might and Magic V to be released later this month. A must buy for me!
