Whose viewpoints have actually been changed as a result of arguing here on nationstates?
Anyone go from creationist to not?
Republican to democrat?
Christian (other religions included since i see no threads on them) to atheist?
etc. etc. etc.
Learning is good and all... and just remember all I'm doing is asking a question.

I'm not a socialist anymore, but it's not because of NS, well somewhat.

No, I haven't, but I HAVE found better ways to argue my case from other posters. They bring up great arguments I never thought of (or did, and just didn't know how to say it).
i put yes before i read all of the responces, i didn't know it meant if we'd changed to what we'd argued against.
i've changed position, but not to what i was arguing against.

I've become more cynical and less tolerant of the ignorant and/or those of differing veiws. But alas, no conservative has been able to convince me to abandon all reason yet.

I am ashamed to admit it (maybe not) but my views on abortion have changed a lot (not anything to do with the thred today, it was a thred in august) Apparently my new improved more liberal views are still upsetting to the more rabid pro-choicers though, oh well. I don't live to please anyone, except God, and I don't think that changing my views to make someone else happy would make God happy.

I have become much more confirmed in my views, and on the ignorance of the other sides. Sort of like tempering steel, only with more fascist gets yelling at me.

The only way I think my opinion has changed is that I have become more polarized on some issues. At the same time, I have learned not to argue with people that are not interested in listening.

This happens to me with tolerable frequency. I'm a totall sucker for a smartly written, appealing, and cogent argument.
I often go into denial about it, but in fact, my opinion had been changed. Until the next time.

Um...I feel strange. I...I...agree. And that's not possible. I am incapable of agreeing with Rotovia on anything. Of course I would replace "conservative" with "bible banging Jesus-freak". But I would also add pink-o commies.

So you just agree with whatever the last guy (provided he had some speeching skills) said, is what your saying?
And where are you finding well written arguments on NS? Or are you just talking in general terms?

No one's changed my mind about any topic. Several have managed to cement what I already believed, though. Besides, I thought that the purpose of debates on General wasn't to convince each other, I thought we were all just supposed to scream inanely at the top of our lungs. :D

We actually come kind of close to agreeing on that, Smunkee. Which one of us should be worried? :D
I used to be a conservative and now I'm an anarchist, so that's a rather big change.

"a rather big change"? that's damn near a 180! What made you leave the Sith?

I guess seeing that there was much more to the political spectrum than I was aware of and that my original conception of politics was very flawed. That was what got me questioning conservativism, at least.

My views have changed since I started playing NS, and I suppose that has been in part due to debate.
I've become a bit less radical (slightly more compromising on a few issues).
On other issues, I've become more confident in the practicality of hard-lined libertarian philosophy. Mostly in the areas of capitalism vs. socialism/communism, since the arguments are honestly laughable ("there's never been a true commie state, so it must work since it looks teh goodness on paper!").

My rather right-wing views have moderated a bit, although they weren't that strong to begin with.

Oh, I should have said that I've been on NS since early 2003, but my old nations are all dead from inactivity - My change didn't happen in just one month.
