I hate jocks. In school, they're popular yes, but they're the most idiotic, provoking, judgemental and criticizing people there are. I'll tell you the incident that happend many many times, but this one is recent -

I am visiting NationStates in the school library just solving some issues that came up for my nation and being interested in politics and all. Some jocks pass by behind me and see what I am doing, in return, one of them laughingly says, "What the hell is that?"

The other responds saying, "I don't know, some gay website I think. It says Jennifer Government. . ."

And they start laughing like they are proud by not being interested in one of the most mature and debatable topics there are (politics).

Jocks are so arrogant as well as ignorant. They represent the stereotype in society and they try hard to do "normal things", which nowadays in America is, sex, sports, TV, beer, expensive cars, money, sex, pornography, making fun of homosexuals, criticizing, being judgemental, being arrogant and ignorant.

Well who cares about them now. My friend and I developed a theory that all jocks are failures, yes ALL!

They're only popular in school, and are influential, and yes they are the most lucky in school by being really good looking and all, but later in life, when its time for graduation and entering college, what happens? "Oh shit! I can't believe my f****n teacher gave me an F for Physics," most will state.

Well, whose fault is that? If you only come to school to show off and get girls and not pay attention to the one of most important things in life -- EDUCATION, then don't expect anything greater than an F.

Jocks are so irritating. They disrespect parents, criticize you, humiliate you, make fun of you, don't care about religion or education whatsoever, and are so judgemental.

Well, a future of a Jock is simple -

-Going to a community college
-Graduate from a community college
-Realize he's too much of a failure to get a decent job and join the military to AVOID being made fun of
-Die in war or survive and get a marriage before going in the military, but since they were psychologically addicted to sex and porn throughout they're highschool/college years, they demand much from their wife but to keep her self-respect, the wife divorces and the Jock just continues his life however he wants it.

And in return, all those whom were made fun of, succeed in front of their eyes when they get scholarships.

The "lucky" ones get a scholarship for sports.

So, in conclusion, I hate Jocks, and girls who hang around with Jocks.

Yeah, but there's no Q, either, what's your point?

Btw, if u hate jocks, what do you have to say about scholar atheletes? I mean, I do a school sport or two (albeit I'm not a top runner) and I have ridiculously smart friends who also captain a team.

Okay, so what, exactly, defines a "jock?" I played football (American) two years in middle school and four years in high school. None of those things happened to me which you declared to be the future of a jock. I think the people you are dealing with are jerks, plain and simple. Jerks don't always play sports, so don't take "jerk" behavior and label it "jock" behavior.

It still depends on what school. Personally, jocks to me are unintelligent.

What only pushes them to do good in school is their parents. I doubt any has self-interest in education and school at all.

Something else ot consider are parents. Sometimes a jerk-jock is being "coached" to be an asshole because his parents are assholes (or one is and the other is too passive to object with any kind of effectiveness). In my experience, the apple (or in some cases, the nut, doesn't fall far from the tree). Assholes are not born, they're made.

I've seen this in heaps of American movies & wondered if it was real or just stereotyping. I never saw it in the schools I went to here in Aus. Of course there were bullies & popular kids, but they weren't necessarily the sporty types & the segregation didn't seem anywhere near as severe. In my schools, kids from different groups would mix quite freely with eachother.

Aren't jocks encouraged to act that way? Try to intimidate the competition on the field. They just can't switch that off so they act like jerks in front of everyone. But I guess that is being stereotypical like saying all cheerleaders are bimbos.

I'd call them "someone who has the potential to make a difference."

Something I should have mentioned earlier, I'm very sorry that these two decided to say the things they did about you. Many people in my high school said similar things about me, and I understand how much it can hurt. But I also know that despite their actions, I played football and enjoyed it, finished HS with a 4.0, and I'm graduating this semeser with a BA degree before moving on to optometry school. So don't get discouraged and continue to focus on what you know you need to do.

I dont.in ireland we dont have any.we dont have a social caste system in our schools,noones 'popularity' is ever compared to someone elses or commented on.people on sports teams(including the chess and debate teams) are given no special treatment,aside from being allowed leave school for a match.

Honestly if you believe every jock is that steroticpical then you live a very sad, judging life. Just because they fit one sterotype better than the rest doesn't mean you can judge them all. Not really in Australia, no. We have our different groups & subsets, but it doesn't seem nearly as strictly defined & segregated as in America.

Jocks can be intelligent. Most of my friends are. I'm kind of a jock though I don't live and breathe my sports. Saying all jocks are jerks is kind of like saying all smart kids are nerds. or geeks. depending on which term you use. There are some jocks that are arrogant idiots but thats only about 60% of them. Also, I do think that even smart "promising" people can be jerks too. Generally, a lot of smart people at my school make it their priority to make anyone around them feel inferior. Now, I don't hate geeks because of this.

Not all jocks are stupid (this has been posted many times already, I'd just like to say it again :P). I'd say about 4 of the last 5 valedictorians at my school have been "jocks." Teachers at my school also did some research. Apparently, the average average of the students involved in sports is higher than those who aren't involved in sports.

I am visiting NationStates in the school library just solving some issues that came up for my nation and being interested in politics and all. Some jocks pass by behind me and see what I am doing, in return, one of them laughingly says, "What the hell is that?"

I've been out of high school for 6 years now and already see it happening in my class. All the studs wound up dropping out of college and becoming alcoholic losers.
