:sniper: Thanks for anyonetaking time to read this post. I have recently submitted a proposal by the title of Halo 2 Competitions as a Sport. This proposal would make Halo 2 and othe FPS be recognized as a official sporting event. I know some people who may read this will not care . That is fine. Those of you who do Please cast your vote of approval in the proposal's section of the UN. Thanks. Listed below is the Body of the Proposal. Thanks Again!

Description: I firmly beleive in the right to participate in alternative sports. Sports such a Motocross and Skateboarding. That is why I propse to make Halo 2 Competitions as an official sporting event.

1.This is sport that would tracend the limitations that
sports such as football and baseball impose.
A> No longer would age or athletic ability be hinderance.
B> Old and young playing together in a sporting event
where they could gain official recognition for their
talents.
2.In this sport there would no longer be a barrier based
on whether someone is male or female.
A> Imagine the sexes competing openly and freely with each
other.
B> Imagine anyone of any sex being recognizde for their
glorious victory in the sport.
3. This is also a sport that is not limited by a nation's
ethnic back ground or location.
A> Imagine a sport where anyone from any nation can
compete openly and freely.
B> A world competing together! Would that not be awesome.
4. I say why stop there. Why not include other First Person
Shooters.
A> HAlf-Life 2
B> Socom Series.

Why just first person shooters? You don't like other games because they challenge your mind?????????????

This would be the saddest sport ever......have you seen and talked to the kind of people that are really into these games???? I should know what they are like.....I used to be one of them.......then I found....well....I found nothing.

There are so many things wrong with this... where to begin?

1) This belongs in the United Nations Forum. The Mods can take care of that
2) The proposal itself may violate UN rules regarding proposals. This will need to be clarfied by a Mod
3) Halo 2 is not a sport
4) Never EVER start a thread with a sniper or mp5 emoticon

If we do this where does it stop? Next thing you know people will claim that Chess is a sport!

For those who missed the obvious joke<-

I wondered how long it would take.

Well, there you have it, I would vote yes for this. FPS take just as much, if not more "wits" than chess. In chess you have as long as you want to chose your moves, in games like Halo 2 you have seconds, if even that long to make a decision. Battlefield 2, great game, if your team has a good commander you will win two out of three times. If you have a great commander you will win everytime. Takes brains.

Walking takes brains too. So does posting on a forum. Alot of things take brain power to do but they are not all sports.

Good point. The idea of a sport is that it takes braun, it may take brains as well, but it is essentially about the physical attributes.

sport (spôrt, sprt)

NOUN:

1)Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.

2)An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.

If you're going to go through the synaptic long jump to declare FPS's a sport, why not just declare all video games a sport, like sports video games.[/sarcasm]

Chess fails to meet both of those requirements but is still a sport. Hell, FPS are more physically exerting. Everyone knows that if you lean your character on the screen will duck behind cover that much faster. If you shout "BOOM!" when firing the sniper rifle it will do more damage. Jumping up and down after a win is a way to ensure future success. All physically exerting.

Chess causes no more physical exertion and the movement of the hands and arms. Yet it is considered a sport. Halo causes you to move your hands and sweat. It casues some physical exertion. It is not extensive as chess or baseball. But there is still fundamentally some kind of exertion.

BOOM HEADSHOT!!

That guy would definetly take home the gold every year because if anyone beat him he would chase them down and cut them, because you run faster with a knife you know. ;)

So when I say "Hey guys, who was the football game yesterday?" I should actually be saying "Hay guys, who won the football sport yesterday?"

hmm well you just blew your own reputation of a video gamer to microscopic pieces. The Socom series are classified as a third person shooters therefore know thy games before you try to incourage the use of them.
