I'm going to have my pre-2001 LEGO men burn the post-01ers. But seriously, look at this (http://www.lego.com/eng/vikings/Default.aspx) and this (http://www.lego.com/eng/dino/attack/default.aspx) crap. I remember how back in the day, parents were concerned about LEGO pirates 'cuz they had little swords and cutlasses. Course, now you can buy LEGO humvees and machine guns. And you know what the worse news is? NOBODY COMPLAINS!

And what about those @#&*ing Vikings? WTF is up with their horned helmets and catapults? Are these Vikings or retarded imitation Vikings?

Well, s'long. I'm off to the toy store to buy some LEGO vikings. My old-school castle LEGO people are going to be busy putting up LEGO gallows and piling hay round some wooden stakes...

Yeah, and what happened to all of the good Space themed LEGOS. I liked those. When I was really young, those were the only ones I ever bought. When I got older, I bought Space themed and LEGO Technix.

And you now what was good about the Technix? While there ware some specialized parts, on the whole, any kit you got had the parts needed for a lot of experimentation. Now, they are all full of specialized parts that are only in car kits, or only plane kits. That sucks. No more experimentation for budding young minds.

I remember the days when Legos didn't even have pirates. In my day, Legos were blocks, period. Sometimes you could find curved Legos, but mostly they were rectangular solids.

But then I'm a relic of the Miocene era. We'd build spears out of Legos and go hunting for wooly mammoths.

I know! Lego's gone decidedly shitty over the past few years. I thought that when I went to get some for my "younger brother"... yes... younger brother. All these special parts and crappy fabric things. What ever happened to good old bricks? Where'd the blocks go? It isn't right I tell you!

legos dominated...but in the past...6 or so years have fallen of. They've just been crap. Dyno attack looks like absolute garbage...but the vikings might bring them back. I mean when they dropped the castle series(after the royal knights) it was bad...but this might bring them back up. Also yes spaced themed legos dominated also. I own the main blacktron base, w/ lights and erything. So i'm looking forward to the vikings.

Meh... I thing the vikings are something of an improvement over Dino Attack, but they hardly measure up to, say, the Pirates, or the Royal Knights, or Wolfpack, or Ice Planet 2002, or Exploriens, or... or...

Ok you obviously own more lego than I do but the point remains. Those bionicles pissed me off. Stupid things. They dont move, they look stupid and they're a rip off. You get fewer bricks than ever , but you pay more than ever. Im not buying it as christmas presents anymore.
A. because I have to put the stuff together and
B, Its too expensive

One complaint I have about older LEGOS (I don't know if it is still a problem today, but I bet it is) was the decals. The ones you had to stick on yourself. Those were bad. They always came off. You could never get them on straight (especially if you were an impatient 8 year old). After a short while, they faded, and sucked.

Some of that dino stuff looks aweful, heck the "raygun" tyope thing they feature is merely the old TV camera bit with 2 round singles and a green light dot on it, i was doing better than that about 15 years ago. And that attack helo sucks.

I used to like space lego but it kept changing with the various versions of the Blacktrons (the 1st version with the black visors rocked) and space police/miners.

Now castle lego that was where it was at (although the pirate cutlass had one thing over the castle weapons: i actually fitted through the connectors on the leg block so you coudl make it look like people had been stabbed...)

I read an article last weekend about the 'battle of logo's soul'. Apparently the new guy in charge of the company wants it to go back to its roots. He wants to limit the number of 'special' bricks and make sure every new brick can be used for multiple purposes like the originals, rather than just for one space-alien (or similar).

If they actually do that, I will be very happy, and celebrate.
