Napoleon Bonaparte I.

This is my little discussion on Napoleon. Bring in your opinion of him. What did he do good for society? What bad? You may also state what you think are some of his strategic, or tactical blunders, or triumphs, so long as there no ALL The Battle of Waterloo. I find this MUCH more interesting then gays, or creationists. ENJOY!!!

What an apt question, at the bicentennial of some his greatest military victories: it seems that breaking down his legacy into good and/or evil is still too simplistic. By his own account, he was a man with a destiny he could not ignore. He certainly craved order, being a child and witness to the revolution that bred so much chaotic violence. He certainly sought power...as did every other contemporary monarch & despot. To single Bonaparte out from among other power hungry lunatics (i.e. Alexander Romanov, Chuck Hapsburg, Bill Pitt, the Bourbon lardos) is unjust to history. One after another they sought to unseat him, because he challenged their own positions, and spilled the blood of millions of their own to do so. Having disposed of him, they quickly reestablished the status quo ante bellum. It took several more bloody revolutions to unseat Europe's autocrats. Napoleon may have brought some advances, some place of pride; he also introduced the police state, a model for the 20th century's Latin and African dictators. But, as a military leader, unparalled.

Such luck for us gays that you're not significant enough for us to get tired of.

I'm not sure I agree with that. For one thing, Napoleon'c tactics saw the beginning of the Douglas Haige school of tactics (let's see how many men we can throw at their artillery/machine guns). Not saying that detracts from his acheivement, that's just how it was then.

Another thing with that: he could be quite hit and miss at times. Yes, he had some fantastic victories, but he had some royal screw-ups too.

In my opinion he was a fairly humane leader when compared to some of the other 'great leaders' of his time, and did much to throw off the shackles of oppression and it was he who led to a great age in independent thought through revolution. He could be bloody, but he was still a larger than life character and a truly great man.

In the words of one historian, he was "as great as a man can be without virtue." (or something to that effect)

It wouldn't be rape as it would be totally consensual. Stalin in his day was a sexy bitch, and, you never know, I might get to fuck him too, and I imagine squirting up the ass of such a power hungry, megalomaniac, genocidal nut job to be really special. But the boner was in response to him doing it to you. :p

It was just a reference to a song, and the "milkshake" was supposed to be an allusion to a, umm, male secretion.
