A simple American boy's thoughts on America

I am, yes, an American boy. But after years of education, ad even more years of seeing nations grow and develop, along with polictical, national, and international news on, well, the news, I see America is a corrupt nation. Very...corrupt. We always get our noses in places they shouldn't be in. Why, when we say rebellion isn't the answer and condemn it, if we used it, and support it in Nepal? I just believe the U.S. could be better. I love my nation, I truely do, but I just think it could be better.

So two things to help improve the nation
1)President is an elected 'dictator' with all the power, but mulitary people may kill him IF THE PEOPLE PLEASE,
or 2) no president, and a Senate, with the supreme court acting out the Presidents duty

I find it funny that people who want to reform the government always want to give it more power.

The reason the military doesn't operate within the US is because the military is set up to fight the enemies of the state. When the military takes the form of the police, the one's actually set up to protect and serve the citizenry, then more often than not, the citizens become the enemies of the state.

Being a retainer is nothing other than being a supporter of one's lord, entrusting matters of good and evil to him, and renouncing self-interest.

(Actually, it is.)

Hey, I'm 15 and I'm not turning out so bad....

Sadly half of it is due to NS making me realize and the other half is due to realizing how fucked up the Bush administration is truly, but...eh.

I don't rely on school to give me everything I need to know, I'll leave it at that.

Well, there is national debt, there is the cutting of student aid, the fact that recruitment is low, so a new benefits package would bolster the influx of new people and raise morale, etc.
Alternately, they could have just held a lottery and bought 1 in 100 Americans a Magical Pony because at least then there is a chance that people will be getting something for the cash stripped from their hands and tossed about with abandon.

It's because Americans believe that to be a real right-wing nutter, you have to abolish all cultural progress, move back into caves, give the police tanks & order them to blow up everyone who has sex.

That is not true! People could still have sex in the Misssionary position, in the dark, with their eyes closed, and after having been married for 10 years and a day.

The point is that America doesn't have, or even know what a welfare state is. There's little to defend if you actually look at the comparative statistics.

Pffft. Its just relative like everything else in the world is. You can only judge poverty and wealth (or welfare state) by nation to nation. For example, if we used a universal standard of poverty then everyone in Europe and America would be wealthy since everyone makes more than a dollar a day. (even the bums because they have panhandling)

Well, what still amazes me is that, supposedly, just over half this country votess for a moron like Bush! Or for any Republican, for that matter!

How is it in anyone's best interest (other than the uber-wealthy...and the extreme right-wing idealogues) to vote Republican?

Under Republicans, civil and personal rights and freedoms are stripped away, and the economy always does worse, hurting the common man, while businesses make out like bandits!

Under Democrats, personal and civil rights move forward, businesses and wealthy people are made to pay their fair share, and jobs are much more plentiful...the common man, economically, does far better with a Democratic government than a Republican one.

1971 Nixon, Republican, recession.
1982 Reagan, Republican, recession
1991 Bush Sr., Republican, recession (it's the economy, stupid!!)
2001 Bush Jr., Republican, recession (it's the jobs, stupid!!)

1995-1999 the strongest economy this country has ever known in the modern era. Clinton, Democrat. THINK, folks!! And next time, for the love of God...vote Democrat!!

Balancing the budget thats been going to hell since what the 1920's . Then help the jobless and homeless who some people think oh it would be easy for them to get a job if they werent so lazy well newsflash what about transportation and healthcare for them so they could actaully start working but ofcourse the US government only cares about the next oil field to raid like they are doing now in the Middle East. And about spendin that much money on the relief efforts its a ruse they say they sent that much but think agian most of that effort money doesnt make it because they never sent it the US government is a espionaging squandering waste of time and space if the forefathers who worked so hard to help this once great country survive came around today they would kick the $#!^ out of the Government today because of the people that run it. And for some reason we the voting part of the US people seem to pick out the most vile lieing treacherous scum out there they lie straight thourgh their teeth to get elected then they screw us so badly that im surprised no anarchist group has begun to form

Aaaaaw. I plan to quote this thread next time I argue that the American educational system is failing our children...

In all fairness, until about 10th grade or so American students aren't really exposed to much in the way of political science. Mostly this is because of the increasingly complex thought process of students as they get older. There are some concepts that younger students struggle with. That said, the American schools are often much more absolute about historical/political "facts" that are often mythical ("Lies My Teacher Told Me" is a good book to read if it interests you).

That said, it would be nicer if (much like in science classes) political science/history classes wouldn't promote myths quite so freely to younger students.

im surprised no anarchist group has begun to form

Contradiction in terms, no? The majority of anarchists (but not all of them) don't particularly care for being part of a group, seeing as how "groups" are ordered.

well like you said not all of the anarchists would join a group and band together for a common goal but the few that would . Would have a larger chance of success so therefore i think logically the other anarchists would join in to

I love America but I love old America more. Back when there were rural towns that no one knew about. Where some Louisiana dwellers only spoke Cajin. A time where Lead Belly was not yet dead and everyone wore suits.
