My first post, a dream.

First of all I would like to greet everyone ..... :fluffle: .. hugs. ;)

I am a strong atheist, hence I have had my share of philosophical debates throughout the years about various religions, I have heard almost any argument from both sides and .... I dont discuss religion anymore, however a dream last night really caught my attention, maybe bacause it was so vivid and every part of it was clear, and it had religious aspects.

My dream:

I am standing in a street belonging to the town where I grew up as a child, the weather is clear and the streets are empty, no people in sight. All of a sudden a naked short fella with blonde curly hair and a little hat which looks like a little human baby walks to me and smiles. ; Hello, I am Thorbjørn (which can be translated with Thorbear in english).

I smile and totally disregarding his nudity I greet him nicely. He is constantly smiling and walking along with me ; - Did you know all religious books are a pile of crap and propaganda made to those arent in heaven yet? : Thorbear says.

Apparantly in my dream I am not an atheist, nor am I a believer, at least my mind doesnt take the religious aspect into account

Me;- No, I didnt know heaven had books.

Thorbear;- Humans wrote them out of passion, in every passion there is lie, a lie which you tell yourself and then others.

Me;- Oooh....(I didnt understand this)

Thorbear;- There is only one law in the universe.

Me;-Oooh... which?

Thorbear;- To understand, its how you interpret your understanding and use it which will lead to your judgement, do you really think Johan made it to heaven after robbing the bread of his children just because he appologised and prayed everytime? Most humans dont really mean they are sorry when they say it, they only fear the consequences of not saying it.... thats not enough, you have to understand that.

Me;- (I was silent wondering about who Johan was)

Thorbear;- I am hungry, could you buy me a loaf of bread please .. here, I ll give you some money.

I took the 100 crowns of his hands which is more than plentyfull to buy bread in Denmark, but everywhere I found out that bread costed more than that .. and I couldnt afford it, so I decided to go back and give the money back to Thorbear.

Me,- Everywhere I went I failed to find anything this cheap and I dont have any money.

Thorbear;- Thank you, you did what was right from your understanding, but you really never understood ... dont worry, you will.

Me: (I was completely confused at this point)

Thorbear;- My love is unconditional, do not pray, do not look up for answers ... feel around ... feel within and understand. If someone didnt believe in you but asked for a glass of water ... wouldnt you give it to him? Ofcourse you would .. (he had a large smile on his face).

Me;- (The last part I understood so I nodded).

Thorbear;- Oooh dear, time has gone and my son must be hungry, take care young one ... and remember ... understand.

I waved and shortly after I woke up.

My subconscience does love to play games with me, but I can see why some people would have doubts in regard to religion after having this dream. I usually remember most of my dreams, but this one was very detailed .. in a way really kind of scary.

Well ... I hope my first post didnt bore you too much

I've never been much for interpretation myself and I don't understand your dream at all..., but welcome to the nuthouse! And remember, while you're here, I am your supreme ruler and you must bow down to me and do everything I tell you to, otherwise you'll have to answer to the Awful Long-bladed Sharp-pointed Keen-edged Sword of DOOM! Mwahahahaha!

Anyway, formalities aside, I'm an atheist as well, primarily because I have yet to find a religious argument I can take seriously. Ah well...

WELCOME! Happy to see a new face.

I'm quite a spiritual person, but I'm open to other people and enjoy hearing their opinions. I'm not the type to be condemning people, perhaps mainly the type to take in people as Family if I get to know them well. Its nice to see a new person, doesn't matter if your an athiest or not.

On the topic of the dream, I'm not really qualified to interpret dreams, and I don't want to be guessing. All I can say is that its very interesting indeed, even though I am spiritual, it did have an impact to me in a sense. Very wierd, but then again it could JUST BE a dream.

*shurgs* I don't know what to make of it. But I can ask if you could reflect, what would be your interperation of it now?

Welcome, welcome.

Hmmm. Interesting dream. I've personally had some pretty powerful, life-changing experiences in dreams, but I'm not really sure where I stand on them being experiences orchestrated for some purpose by your own mind, or some other force, or whether they're just random bits of information that your mind is trying to sort through that occasionally, by chance, hit upon something meaningful. Just depends on your point of view and beliefs, I suppose.

I once had a dream where I was raped by a bunch of dolphins in a swimming pool. It was pretty weird. My mind is strange, and dangerous place, apparently.

I'm no expert, but maybe you had a fear of or very much liked Dolphins? *shurgs*

That would freak me out.

One time I had a dream I was being eaten by a Giant snake, however I had a choice on how to go down, if at all.

Well, I like dolphins. I love going swimming with the local wild dolphins when I get the chance, but I don't like them THAT much. Though I did give it the occasional thought after I had the odd dream, which was really unavoidable. Kinda like when someone mentions your grandparents having sex, and despite your best efforts, you can't help but picture it.

I didn't really freak me out, though. Nothing about the weirdness of my mind surprises me anymore.

Eaten by a giant snake, eh? Perhaps you have some vore leanings? ;)

Heh. That's cool. Vore is definitely one of the more interesting fetishes I've encountered, and there are some really interesting ones out there.

Erm, but I think I'm making this thread dirtier than it was meant to be. So.... here! :fluffle:

Why would it have to be a religious argument? I could think of a few reasons why God exists without referring to any religion.

All right, explain it.
