You have to imagine how funny this might look.

Imagine a Chinese guy, a Jewish guy, an Indian guy, and an Irish guy dressing up as that. I taught them a few German Words for no reason at all. :p Those pictures are not us obviously, we don't have a camera, but they're sample pictures of the costume from where we got it. >_< :p

yeah, hilarious. Why do people think it's original to dress up as killers? Notwithstanding your particular heritage, it's pretty lame.

Because they had god-awesome uniforms.

God-damnit, I'm wearing this in public to.

I'm going to be a College Student who isn't participating in Halloween because he has school work to do. To complete the illusion I will even spend the whole time doing homework and not going outside.

It's not original, but it is traditional. In the early days of Halloween, people would dress up as demons and evil spirits. It seems to make perfect sense to me.

*snerk* Oh, I like this. It's the perfect response to people glaring at you about dressing up as German officers. You may want to ditch the arm bands, though; that's going a tad too far. Besides, the officers didn't wear them out on the field (I assume).

Mythical demons and evil spirits =/= real life murderers and opressors.
I personally find it in pretty bad taste, and mildly offensive. Nothing too serious but meh, it would't be my choice. Demons and spirits could be construed to have mythological, metaphorical, cultural significance. Nazis are still far too recent, far to real, far to ruthless to be percieved in that way.

Think about it. Honestly, it doesn't take much. Why do we dress up on All Hallow's Eve at all? Or, for those of us whose religions have dress-up holidays of their own, why do we dress up on those days?

It has little to do with trying to deceive people, really. It's about turning the world on its head, for a day. Sure, 364 days a year I'll respect the rules of good taste and not endorse genocide (including myself and my family?!) with my clothing. But on that one day, the rules don't apply and I can dress however I damn well please.

It's a safety valve, in some sense. On Hallowe'en you can use your clothing and make-up to express or display what you probably wouldn't at other times.

If I ever have a couple hundred dollars really burning a hole in my pocket, I'll commission a mask, build a tail and ruin a perfectly good pair of jeans to go with it, then put on gloves, paint them, and go off and have a good time. The rest of the year, that'll all stay in my closet. :)

Going visibly armed increases the chance that some armed and unstable person will try to attack you first. This happens on the international scale too.

I checked out that site you linked to. If you're actually wearing those uniforms, you wasted an amazing amount of money. For example, just the Hitler dress uniform is something like 960 euros, without any accesories.

I didn't buy the Hitler Uniform. My Jewish Friend is wearing that. XD

True. If you take those along, your future won't contain death. It will contain oyu being repeatedly sodomised by a 300lb redneck named Bubba in the state penitentiary.

Good points. I'm not a prude at all, just this stint rubs me the wrong way.

By the way, great name. I'm thinking of doing a set of puppets for various protists: Chlamydomonastan, Euglenoidia, Parameceia...you beat me to the punch though.

I can see the humour, even if I don't agree with it (if you ditch the armbands...definitely too far. I'd get rid of all swastika references). The problem is that most people won't.
