Last night I placed second in the annual Halloween costume contest at my local bar. I went as a zombi. Even though I didn't win 1st prize, I'm still really happy!
I placed a close second to a good friend who spent 9 months making his dragon costume. It was awesome!
The prize was a DVD player.
But even better, was one of the judge's comments: "Your costume is just so GROSS!"

i was a fairy, and it took me bloody ages, i had to make my own tutu and do you have any idea how difficult it is to find pink or white stockings?!

I just got back from a shitty work halloween party. Nothing like getting smashjed on a montday night.

And Tink, white stockings are incredibly easy to find here. They were an important part of the second iteration of my own costume.
Yes, white stockings, stuffed with TP and cotton batting, and worked a bit, make fair intestines. And ones that were able to survive the ultimate chaos of this party (http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/national/news/20051031p2a00m0na007000c.html) (BTW, that's a rather misrepresentative article - the party's been going for far longer than stated and I saw at injuries, but it's the only real news article I can find).

Dude, I'm happy with it. As I implied in the OP, the comment from the judge was pure winning praise - as I set out for a truely grotesque costume, achieved my goal, and was rewarded for it.
Too bad you weren't happy with it. But if you're happiness depends on my sucess, as you imply, that's just sad. Too bad.
And sorry to hear that Tink. But at least it wasn't my costume smeared all over. :eek:
