Sounds like you have a trojan and some one is screwing with you remotely. make sure your anti-virus stuff is up to date and maybe download Hijack This then disconnect yourself from the internet and try and poke around to find what it is.

I use Norton and keep it up to date. I'll check again. Thanks

have you restarted?

go to trendmicrosystems and run their free "housecall" virus scan. its good. if you have a highspeed connection it wont take too too long.

I ran the scan but found no viruses, no trojans either, some cookies spies. The pointer still goes not sometimes. No fun.

how old is your mouse? if it's more than a few years old, this is probably a hardware problem

if you're using an older optical mouse, there could be some lint on the lens.

There are corded optical mice. You're thinking of a wireless mouse.

I mean a mouse that has a laser on the bottom instead of a ball.

This little mouse has a ball. Would a wireless be best?

wireless won't make a difference, I was wondering if you had a mouse with a laser. If a piece of lint gets on the lens of one of those the pointer goes nuts.

Anyway, yours has a ball, so nevermind.

Sometimes computer cursors go wacko. One of my laptops to that, when I close the case and it goes on standby and comes back within a short space of time. I normally restart and it fixes the problem. In my case it's definately not a virus as the laptop hasn't been connected to the net in five years. So, who knows. Give it a shot. Heck if it's a good trojan when you restart your computer will be fucked...

Unless there's lint build up on those little wheel thingies. That could cause problems. Even if it isn't the cause, it's worth cleaning out a ball mouse on a regular basis. Either that or go out get a laser mouse, the work on just about any surface and I'm reasonably sure you could blind someone if you hit them in the eye repeatedly with the usb plug...

I will have to do that because this is driving me nuts. Some of you may not be able to tell the difference in me.

I had a mouse not so long ago that would go nuts if you so much as moved it an inch! It would go all over the screen, opening everything! I had to get a new one, because it just started happening more and more often, until that's all it did!!!

Is your cell phone next to the mouse or the mouse cable? It wouldn't account for random programs opening up, but I've noticed that sometimes when my cell phone is near my mouse it causes the pointer to move around on it's own.
