SHIZUOKA — The driver of a passenger car dodged a cat and the vehicle crashed into a line of nursery school children in the city of Shizuoka on Thursday afternoon, injuring 36 children and an adult looking after them, police said.
Five of them were injured seriously in the accident which occurred on a road with one lane on each side at around 1:10 p.m., firefighters said. The children are aged 4 or 5, and the adult is 23. The police arrested the driver, Akira Yano, 59, on suspicion of inflicting injuries caused by negligence.
Words fail me. But, when I read that I lol'd.

That's why they are supposed to teach people to brake rather than try and avoid.
You're likely to look at whatever you're trying to avoid anyway, and then you'll steer towards it whether you want to or not.

Its better to not swerve or brake at all for a cat. The damn thing can run away on its own, and (as this story proves) its just not worth the risk of hitting something else or getting in an accident.

OMG that is terrible, why swerve the cat anyway??? they are vile creatures that obviously like jay walking, get a 2000lb car to hit them that will teach teh nasty little buggers.

While I'd usually object to cruelty to animals, I must admit that cats are clearly the work of the devil and must be killed. I would suggest some easy ways of doing this without leaving any evidence, but I'm afraid the moderators might not be too happy.

I'm Asian, and yes Asian roads aren't safe especially motorbike drivers. Used to live in Malaysia, and those motorbike drivers are insane.
